Do any routers have built-in VPN?

What VPN to use for ASUS router?

Recommended Posts.

I'm considering setting up one of my computers to act as a router, sharing its internet connection using a switch to other computers I have laying about. One of those computers is already running on my wifi router - though not used for sharing, this is how I like it as I have 3g and 3 bars with data coverage in many different places within the house.

The purpose being though, using this machine would become a virtual machine for an application - just like you can use VMWare and then make any operating system appear like a separate machine, I'd be hoping to run ubuntu within an encrypted tunnel that would make it "seem" as though it's another OS using a router - thus connecting from 3g would be nice too. I was given some recommendations by people about setting up what I had (vpn with DDWRT) - but that was only meant for an adhoc network to work so that doesn't quite apply as I'll just be setting up this computer to play host. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on setting this up, or at least knows of something similar that might be easy to set up with a GUI on the host? I have never done any networking on a Windows computer before so perhaps I should do some research into the way such things work first - but if you can give me a few pointers, then all the better! With OpenVPN you can use either server (the GUI tool is called Network manager) or the cli (towards the top of the screen) To make an "ad-hoc" network you can set it up manually - it will connect to a public server and open a connection when there's a chance that it can make it through the firewall - If you don't know how, look at how we setup ours (not vpn) for the DDWRT vpn guides. A note about using DDWRT (or any vpn service) for the same idea - if you're in a city where there are no open wireless networks - you will need to set up your own. Since ddwrt uses your wireless card and does some stuff with it to be open - there's a chance that it will cause your wireless to stop working on it's own until you have stopped using the vpn.

Does ASUS have free VPN?

If you're on the look-out for a free VPN, and you need something that has a clean interface, no ads, and a reliable service, then ASUS has a deal for you.

You can get a ASUS router with built-in VPN service for free - just get an ASUS router, and you'll get the ASUS VPN Client which will connect you to the best VPN service out there. It's a free VPN, so it's completely cost-free for you, but if you have any questions or are looking for any kind of support, we'll be more than happy to help. What's included in the ASUS routers? The ASUS ROG GX80 is one of their most popular models - we've reviewed it here, and you can see our review of the ASUS ROG GX80 if you're interested. But they have a whole range of other models too - including the ASUS ROG G752VY and the ASUS ROG G752SVY. So, for instance, the ASUS ROG G752VY and the ASUS ROG G752SVY both have the same specs - including dual-band gigabit, quad-core, and 22 802.11ac wireless - but they're all going to work with the ASUS VPN Client.

That means that you get the following: Dual band gigabit. Quad core. 22 802.11ac Wi-Fi

Do any routers have built-in VPN?

oh you're saying that I can't do pptp and openvpn at the same time?

as in, on the same system. Komaki: if you have a network layer and a data layer then pptp is used for control layer only, while openvpn would handle all the data layers. it's just to encrypt our internet connections. and yes, each (and only one) protocol can be used at the same time. it's actually really nice :). it's a good start. But not exactly sure how well it works, yet.
Komaki, if you don't need your ISP or their rules to know about your tunnel, yes, go for it. There are VPN tunnels running over IPSEC and openvpn both at the same time.
I think we need the vpn to go through our isp first. I think there's some discussion on ubuntuforums.org about this ok thanks. np. does anyone know if it's easy to make a web page like facebook using html5/css3? Komaki: what do you mean? komaki, yes. daftykins: sorry I meant that it's easy to make a web page like facebook using html5/css3. Komaki: no, not from the general public. what if I was to make my own social media site? it would depend on what they're talking about.

Is the ASUS router VPN secure?

Is it worth buying?

When it comes to wireless home networks, security is a top priority for many of us. It can be hard to assess the security of the internet connection our router provides before we buy one. We were interested to know what others thought, so we've taken some ASUS routers and tested them to see how safe their internet connections are. This is a comparison of 3 ASUS routers; the WL-122T, the WL-122R, and the VB-HSTN. The routers were purchased on a number of occasions from various retailers at different prices ranging from 35 to 75.

After purchasing each of the three routers, we first used them in an Ethernet port on our home network. It was easy to set up the devices with a password and log into our Windows Home Server and configure them. We configured each router's Internet connection through the Ethernet port to test the range and speed of the internet access.

After that, each router was taken back to our main living area where they were connected to various antennas using the same Ethernet cable. A WiFi signal strength meter was also used for this. From each antenna, the signal strengths were recorded at a range of positions to compare both range and signal strengths. The distance from the router to the antenna were all the same.

We found that range was very strong for each model of ASUS router with an average range of about 500 metres with our strongest signal in an area of no houses. Once again, the Asus routers offered very strong range compared to the other two models tested.

One thing we noticed was that the routers provided a strong Wi-Fi signal with more than enough power. There weren't any gaps between Wi-Fi connections. We also tested the signal strength for each ASUS router at the same time as there was another router being used on the same network. When we tested for a single router, there was a stronger signal with the WL-122T, followed by the WL-122R and then the VB-HSTN. The signal strength was the same for all three routers when each had two devices on the same network.

Speed Tests. We completed speed tests to find out how fast our internet speed was compared to the speed on the same network for the same distance from the router.
