How large do camellias get?
It depends on the variety and where they are growing.
The larger specimens, of course, the bigger the tree.
I have been reading that some people grow a camellia in their garden to be an ornament as well as to bring in more pollination for the plants in their garden. What kind of size do they grow and where? It is a wonderful idea to plant a camellia in your garden, but I don't think you will find anything in the average catalog that will satisfy you. If you want to use a camellia for an ornamental effect, you should get one that is of the 'double flower' variety, because they are much larger than the single-flower varieties.
You'll find camellias from 25" up to 40" in diameter, depending on the variety. Most of these varieties also have flowers that are 'multi-colored', which means they have more than one color on the flower. In the double-flower varieties, the flower is usually two-toned.
Camellias are very easy to grow from seed and they have no problems with pests. They are not as drought tolerant as many other flowers, however, so you should water them often, especially during the summer months.
How much space is needed to grow a camellia? All camellias need at least a square foot of space to grow, but most of the larger varieties need a little more space than that. The larger the tree, the more space it needs.
Some of the larger varieties also need good, rich, well-draining soil. In order to get the most out of a camellia, you will have to water it often. You can grow them in any type of soil, but if you have clay soil, you may find that the plant will have trouble taking up the water.
When do you prune camellias? Camellias should be pruned regularly to keep them healthy and looking their best. The smaller the tree, the less frequently you should prune it. The larger the tree, the more often you should prune it. The smaller the tree, the less often you should prune it.
What about fertilizing camellias? The fertilizer that you use for your other flowers will work just fine for your camellias.
What is the average height of camellia?
I have a small camellia, about 1/2 inches high. I'm not sure how tall it will grow. What is the average height of this type of plant?
Asked by: Linda. The average height of a shrub or small tree is usually measured at a height of 18-24 inches. However, many shrubs and small trees can grow much taller and thicker than that, reaching heights of 20-50 feet in some cases. As to your particular plant, you'll just have to wait and see!
Answered by: lkreitman. Date published: 2017-02-07. What is the average height of a camellia? My garden has 3 camellias that are all 4 years old. One is 1/2" tall and the other 2 are 1" tall. How do I know which one to keep?
Asked by: russella. I don't know if I should be answering this question as I haven't had the opportunity to personally see your plants, however, it would best to choose the tallest and healthiest looking one. You might want to consider having someone trim off the smallest one. The other two look quite healthy and I'm not aware of any signs that would indicate they need to be trimmed.

Can I plant camellia close to house?
I have a camellia in front of my house.
Is it okay to plant more camellias close to the house? I don't want to see the green house in the back of my house, I want to have the green house in front of my house.
It's okay, the tree has a trunk that is more or less the same size all the way around. The larger the area of a tree, the more light it receives and the more heat it loses.
