How can I encourage my camellia to flower?

Why is my camellia growing but not flowering?

If you have a camellia, which are probably planted indoors during the winter months, but it has stopped flowering after it has been in the garden for about 2 to 3 years, check first whether it is in a pot, in the garden or outside.

If it is in a pot, it will probably be in direct sunlight and it might not have enough light to grow well, so move it to a brighter location to promote growth. You may also find that it is too small to flower at this time.

If it is in the garden, it may be that the light is insufficient for flower formation or the flowers need to be protected from cold wind, so they may develop without getting ready. Move it back indoors to the cooler indoor locations in the house where it needs protection. If your garden is shaded, it is possible that the weather conditions are suitable for it to flower at this time of year, but you can find it in the shade that is right for it. If you don't know if the camellias needs sun or shade, ask it. A white dwarf (tiny flower) that needs full sunlight should stay indoors in the winter and is easier to take care of when it is indoors.

In any case, bring it into the house, the sun room, balcony or similar indoor sheltered location to get it ready for flowering in spring.

How can I encourage my camellia to flower?

My camellia has blossomed twice in the last six months, but we need rain to bloom for longer.

We get quite a bit in June, but not anymore since about May 30th. Our soil is quite shallow and not well-drained. Any advice would be much appreciated!

We hope that when you get more rain, it will grow into a proper vase shape and flower better. If that's not the case, please feel free to contact us again for some new ideas.

Help my camellia grow? it's been dry for a week? Is there any way to help my camellia grow more even, and also can a bulb (not plant) get root when it's too dry? I know it's supposed to be watered every day but it just doesn't get enough water in general if I go more than a couple hours without water. Any tips on how to make sure it doesn't burn? I live in Arizona so I'm not sure if it's just hot here during the day or what.

My dad told me to plant it next to a tree, so I put it at the foot of that tree. It was a beautiful white flowered tree, but it got killed by a storm and I don't know if the roots would've been able to stay alive after it got moved. But it was so tall and strong. I'd like to keep my mom's memory close to me all the time, even if it's not always pretty.

You can try and water it every 2 days or less, depending on how warm it gets at your location. I'm thinking maybe 1/4 of a bottle of water every 2 days would be enough.

Need a Camellia bulb or seed? Hello! After years of begging the gardening god to send us lovely, lovely camellias, I have given up. However, the camellia I had this spring is not from a grocery store. It is from a friend of mine (who was going to give it to me), and I am so worried the camellia he gave me might die.

How long does it take for camellias to bloom?

I am trying to identify a camellia I have that is almost the size of an apple.

It blooms before any other camellia plant in our garden, but we planted it about six years ago. Our gardener believes it is a dwarf camellia 'Parson's Green' with very short, thick leaves. When we planted the plant, it was in its bare soil pot, and it was a dwarf, with a trunk and root ball not much thicker than my finger.

I haven't noticed any flowers on it for six or seven years. Is it possible the plant was started from a seedling of some sort, and not an original plant? If so, how did it get to be so big? It blooms in mid-October, but I thought camellias bloom only in the spring. Is it possible it was raised from seed (if that's possible) and it is too old to have flowers? If it is, does anyone know what kind it might be? Thanks.

Camellias typically begin blooming in late March or early April and last until early October. The best way to figure out if a plant you have is a dwarf tree or a shrub is to look at the shape of the trunk and roots. Plants that have a trunk 2 inches or less in diameter will likely be dwarf trees. Plants with a trunk 2-4 inches in diameter will likely be shrubs.

There is one difference between dwarf trees and shrubs: dwarf trees like to have two shoots coming from a single point, whereas shrubs have four or more shoots coming from one point on the plant. Thanks for your answer. If it is still growing and blooming after all these years, then I'd guess it is a dwarf tree with two shoots, which is a good thing in terms of appearance. We have a similar plant that is much taller, and it has at least four shoots, or I don't think it would have stayed alive. This camellia is already more than six feet tall, but it would not look any better if it had two shoots than it does if it had four. This camellia was planted when our new house was built about nine years ago.

You can't take a small camellia and transplant it. You need to start it as a tree with a large root ball.

Do camellias flower all summer?

Does the grass smell the same when wet as when dry?

No, no it doesn't, and so it is with humans. The earth has a smell as well as the moon has a smell, and we can all agree that human beings have a smell. This fact will probably be forgotten by history, but we are able to recognize it in others. The world, with its trees, grass, fauna, flora and oceans all has its own peculiar smell - which is not always pleasant. We may not smell bad in and of ourselves, but there are smells we want to avoid. Many of the odors from animals (and some of us) can be avoided by wearing certain undergarments or perfume or both. There are several things that affect the smell of clothes and we all would like to know more about that. One of these things is age. What happens to the old clothes? Do they all stink of dead flowers and moldy leaves, or can they continue to smell like fresh spring grass?

How can we know for sure? First we need to know what our clothes are made of. You may have never considered this before, but your clothes are made of materials you may not have imagined. For example, do you know what cotton is made of? It is usually thought to be a fluffy material that feels soft to the touch, and so we use the word - but do you know why? That word came from Egypt where the word cott was part of the ancient language used in temples dedicated to Hathor, known in English by the name Hapi.e. And Hathor was called the mother of the south. This Egyptian goddess is one of the primary divinities within the fertility rites of the Ancient Egyptians. When people from Africa came up against these fertility rites, they took over the religion and continued to worship at what was originally Hathor. The word cotton, which means a soft substance of the south (also from Egypt) came from these early worshippers of Hathor.

Do you see the relevance? Yes, the smell is created from the chemical reactions in various natural fibers which are made from plants and their different species. One of these fibers (cotton) contains gossan (gossamyxetomyle) which gives cotton its characteristic smell. So, why does cotton have that smell?
