Is camellia a tree or bush?

How fast does a camellia bush grow?

I have a camellia bush in my yard and I was wondering how fast it would grow if planted in the fall.

I am thinking of planting it in the spring, but I want to know how fast it will grow if it is planted in the fall.

It will grow very slowly. You can plant a camellia in fall or spring (in the same container) but the spring-planted camellia should be protected from freezing temperatures and snowfall until it has grown several years. You can order a potted camellia from your local garden center or buy a container from a nursery that will come with a 4" pot. You can even get a camellia that is already potted.

Can you keep camellias small?

In a month I'm moving to London.

It's a dream come true! And then suddenly it becomes reality and we are packing up boxes and going to a new flat and everything feels like I've left my mum, and I cry for days.

I know I'm not allowed to do that. I know it will all turn out fine and I should just enjoy the moment. But it's hard because I'm always worrying about where we're going to put things, who's going to look after us, how we'll be able to feed ourselves, and I feel like this is all unfair and not something I can fix. I've been packing and unpacking since we got the news on Saturday morning, and I feel so awful.

It doesn't help that one of the only things I've done well in life is gardening and I'm going to have to chuck it all in and start again. Last night I cried because I felt like I'd had the rug pulled from under me and there wasn't anything I could do about it. I know my mum loves plants and doesn't really want to be a housewife (she's only ever worked part time), but I keep making her feel bad. The garden was her 'baby', she said. And I felt like it was my fault.

And then I looked at all the photos of the new garden and I saw it again. The way it was going to be. It looked so full of life and hope and promise, and I couldn't believe it would be gone. All I could think was: what if we had only bought it this year? What if we had only bought it six months ago? How would it look now? Would it be as nice?

And I realised that it's been two years since I bought it, and two years since I planted it, and I started to cry even more. I have never felt so sad about my life, and that's because I love plants so much. They tell me things. I feel their needs and I know how to take care of them. I get excited about planning new gardens and putting the seedlings in and thinking about the compost I'm going to make.

And I think that's why it hurts so much to have it all taken away. It's because I don't just love plants; I love people. I love you.

Camellias prefer a cool climate, and do well in USDA Zones 5-9. They need full sun to light shade and will tolerate some shade.
