Google's Chromecast Audio (not to be confused with the regular Google Chromecast) is a wireless speaker that plugs directly into your audio source to allow you to wirelessly stream whatever from your local networked music collection to your room. The Chromecast Audio is great for streaming music from your phone, computer, etc.

The biggest problem is that while Google sells a few different types of Chromecast Audio for different uses, all of them are no longer sold on the Google Store because they're discontinued. We'll look into why you can't buy them on Google's site, but if you're really interested in getting the Chromecast Audio, you'll have to buy the version you need from someone who will make a profit selling it. We've been able to track down all the Chromecast Audio still being sold today in Canada, however, so keep reading to find out where you can still get a Google Chromecast Audio.

That may be all there is available on the Google store at the moment, however. The company recently started selling a newer kind of Chromecast Audio that's designed to be specifically be used with your home theatre speakers which is why you can no longer buy those models from Google on the site. That new type of Chromecast Audio has a USB cable instead of a wireless one and when connected through your AV receiver or soundbar, it allows you to play audio through those speakers as well. How do I setup Chromecast Audio?

With a Chromecast Audio, you can connect to your existing network of speakers and stream music over the internet. It is also a good way to stream audio to the Chromecast, which is a smart TV dongle that streams content from the internet to your television.

Before you start: Be sure to turn off the WiFi or mobile data on your router and modem if they are connected to the same router as your Chromecast Audio. Make sure your speakers are set to use the AirPlay protocol and are in range of the Chromecast Audio. Make sure the speaker volume is turned up on all of your speakers. On your phone or tablet, open the app of your choice. Tap the Cast button. If you are using a mobile device, select AirPlay from the list of available casting options. Tap on Cast device to discover devices near you. Select the Chromecast Audio. The Chromecast will search for compatible devices, and when a match is found it will be added to your list. How do I use Bluetooth audio with Chromecast?

In order to use the Chromecast with an iPhone or Android phone, you'll need to pair it with your Bluetooth speakers.

If you're already paired to a Bluetooth speaker, the next steps are straightforward: Open up the Chromecast app and navigate to "Playback devices." You can then add the speakers you want to play audio from to your queue. It's important to note that the audio on the Chromecast device needs to be routed to the connected speaker or speakers; it can't go to the Chromecast itself.

On the other hand, if you're not paired to any Bluetooth speakers, there are a few ways to get connected. You can try a wired USB connection (although this won't work when you plug the Chromecast into a USB port on a computer) or a Chromecast Audio device. The Chromecast app will recognize a Chromecast Audio and ask if you want to connect it, but it won't ask to pair it. You can also find a Chromecast Audio device in the Google Store.

Once you have a Chromecast Audio or Chromecast Audio device connected, you should be able to easily navigate to the Google Cast app and connect it to a speaker. You can also play video content from the Google Cast app on TVs, monitors, and projectors. Here's how: In the Google Cast app, open the Play tab and select a video file that you'd like to stream. Tap the Cast button on the lower-left side of the screen. Select "Cast to Chrome on TV" and tap OK. The file you chose should start playing automatically on the TV. What if my Chromecast has no sound? Your Chromecast will likely be compatible with Bluetooth speakers, but if it doesn't, you can also connect it to your phone's audio out using the Chromecast Audio app. To do this, you'll need a USB cable to connect the Chromecast Audio to your computer.
