Why is Cloudflare suddenly on my computer?

I didn't install anything new, I went to sleep last night and woke up this morning on my computer (and logged into the email). And this thing just started showing up out of nowhere.

I looked at the settings and noticed nothing new was in there, so I clicked the icon with "settings" in the top-right and clicked that it was set to use auto. After that I tried to re-start the computer, but got a error message saying that something wasn't responding. Not sure what exactly is going on here, but I'm glad I brought you guys back into my life so I can now find my phone and use that VPN service until I can get home and take a screenshot.

Update: Apparently if we're not logged in then Cloudflare is an automatic recommendation. Also, apparently if you use something like uBlock Origin then Cloudflare won't load which means there would be no way for any tracking cookies to be left.

This does make sense but this issue has been affecting people who either haven't bothered to check their browser recently or have a browser extension set to auto-detect for Cloudflare. I actually have uBlock Origin set to auto-detect on the sites where it is actually causing issues. I'd be more worried about any "inherited" cookies that Cloudflare sets, which would persist after the user clicks to turn on/off.

Yeah, I just turned off cloudflare and it works. I had it running on the background and all that time the thing was constantly updating. You can go and turn the "recommendation" on/off though, and that stops that.
