How to unenroll a school Chromebook if developer mode is blocked?

This is a really old question.

It was asked in 2025 and the solution seems to have been provided in the comments to that post but I still get redirected to an enrollment page after following that suggestion. (The first comment in the referenced question is by me.)
Since I got a new school Chromebook this year it seems to be blocked from enrolling again, but I want to enroll with my personal email address and not the account Google provided my child so I can have access to all my child's stuff. I tried using the device settings link above but after clicking into the "Reset settings and data" section, I'm just sent back to the "Set up your new Chromebook" page where I see only the option to use my child's Google Account to enroll, and I don't see any option to enroll using a personal Gmail account.

Is there a way to use a personal Gmail account instead of Google's and have that work? I'd like to be able to get into my child's email account and have my own apps that work even when she is away from home. Does this require me to use a different school Chromebook to get into the accounts area? What are my options for enrolling in schools for the rest of the year? I'm still trying to figure out why this happens but Mark gave me a hint on where to look: I tried to go to my "Google Account" in Chrome OS and the authentication dialog came up again. The problem was that the dialog came up with my username but not my password. My password was in the password manager. When I clicked "remember this password", the authentication dialog now showed my password and not my username. I then clicked "login". That was enough to finish the authentication process and get the rest of my settings working.
