How fast is NETGEAR AC1200 router?
The router can be used as an always-on hotspot.
To create this hotspot, you connect a cable to the USB port of the NETGEAR AC1200 router. As an always-on hotspot, the user accesses Internet over Wifi.e. The user might get a phone bill and not even realize it was due to the "always-on" Internet connection.

The AC1200 router can throttle itself based on its current Wifi band and signal strength. Users have two methods of controlling the Internet data rate:
The MAC addresses. You can modify the current MAC addresses in the configuration table by following these instructions.
IP address and DNS configuration. You can also add IP addresses of servers that you want to visit. If you are using Linux, the network tool arpwatch will show all the MAC addresses that have changed after you set the IP addresses. This tool can help you identify which MAC address has changed since you set IP addresses or reset the IP addresses. You can also remove IP addresses from your network settings to reset your IP addresses.
How do I change a device's MAC address? To change the MAC address of a device, you must first connect the device you want to change the MAC address to the NETGEAR AC1200 router through Ethernet. When the device is connected to the router, connect the power and USB port to a computer with a suitable operating system. You can view the device's MAC address from your computer and change it. Are there restrictions on how often and for how long I can change the MAC addresses on my network? Yes, in accordance with the Wi-Fi Alliance Standard. There are specific conditions when it is permissible to change the MAC address on the NETGEAR AC1200 router: Once you have connected a device to the AC1200 router, if you disconnect the device from the AC1200 router, the AC1200 router will retain the MAC address of the disconnected device.
Do I need a modem with AC1200 router?
Hi, I've got a Huawei E5250 AC1200 modem and an AC1000 router (I think it's a AC1200 router), but I don't have a modem with a USB port, so I'm thinking of getting a separate modem with a USB port to use with the AC1200 router. My question is: will I be able to connect devices (phone, tablet, laptop) to my network wirelessly and connect through the ethernet port of my AC1200 router to them? Or do I need to buy a modem with a USB port and connect both devices wirelessly to the modem (which can then connect to the AC1200 router through the ethernet port)? If your router has a standard ethernet port, and your wireless device supports Wifi - you are in business. If your AC1200 router does not have an Ethernet port (at least according to the manufacturer), then you need to buy a AC1200 modem with a USB to ethernet adapter, which connects to the Wifi port of your AC1200 router. Then you plug that into your AC1200 router's ethernet port, and you are good to go.
Is AC1200 router enough?
I have an AC1200 router to replace the Belkin router that was already in the house.
I have also been planning on buying a router with ethernet ports. However, I noticed that the router already has ethernet ports. Should I buy a router with AC1200 network ports or is AC1200 network ports not necessary?
Yes you can use an AC12000 router that has ethernet ports without issue. Note that your Belkin router will have two ethernet ports, one for the network (wired) and one for the WAN/Internet connection.
The newer routers that have ethernet ports will be capable of AC1200 speeds (ie 802.11ac Wi-Fi speeds).
The AC12000 router will be able to connect to your wired network and offer its wireless capabilities simultaneously, as well as act as a repeater for the wireless signals on your wired network. That said, I would recommend that you buy a dual band router if possible, since the range you get will depend on the frequency of operation, and a dual band router will have both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz connections available for use.
To address a comment, it's not advisable to use a different wireless router than your existing Belkin router, since you'd be introducing a new type of wireless signal to your house. Some wireless routers don't work properly in the proximity of the Belkin router.
