How fast is NETGEAR AC1200 router?
I was looking for a router that could handle large amounts of traffic in my home network.
I looked at the AC1200 and it has many reviews and seems like a good router to buy, so I bought it. After installing it, I have a question: is it too fast? I was thinking that it would be great for gaming and streaming, but the problem is that my internet is slow. I think the problem is that the router takes a long time to process the data (or at least this is what it seems). When I connect to the router, it shows it's status and after a while it just starts sending packets. I think that there are too many connections going through the router and it just can't process all of them at once. The AC1200 has 5 USB ports so that I can plug in my phone or my laptop and use it as a modem. I think the problem is that the router takes a long time to process the data (or at least this is what it seems).
Thanks. The AC1200 is rated by Netgear to be able to handle 10 Gbps connections from a LAN, and the only way to increase that is to add an Ethernet switch with enough ports to handle the traffic. What you are experiencing is typical. It has both WAN and LAN ports, and when there are more than one, the AC1200 acts as a switch which distributes the traffic across the ports. The traffic will take longer to transfer because the AC1200 has to go through multiple hops in order to get to the destination. The same thing would happen if you had a single port on your router, and tried to connect a device directly to the WAN port.
Is NETGEAR AC1200 worth it?
With great fanfare, NETGEAR released their first two AC1200 Wireless Routers last October.
I had read the reviews that came out from these two new routers and thought to myself, "this is going to be a good one".
I have purchased 3 of them, one for my mom, one for our home (she has no problem with plugging in everything to the wall) and one for my husband. We are currently on the last router that was given to us and it is running perfectly. The only problem we are having is with the router's wireless range.
The current router is giving us 30-50 yards on the 2.4 Ghz band. I'm aware that this router is not a very powerful router by NETGEAR standards, but it does do the job for what we need. We have 3 other PCs and a laptop connected to the router and all are able to access our network just fine.
When we have the router plugged in at work, I had to use a different wireless range for it (about 10-20 yards away). The same issue happened with the NETGEAR router.
I know the router is not powerful and will not offer the range of our old router, but are they worth the money? Re: NETGEAR AC1200 worth it? Hi there! There's not too much you can do about the router's wireless range; it's more of a limitation with your environment than the actual router. As you already know, if your neighbors are closer than the recommended range, you're going to have problems. However, if you have the router in a central area, where you don't have many close neighbors, I don't think you'd have much of a problem with wireless range.
If the range is an issue for you, I would recommend moving the router to a location where you don't have as many close neighbors. There are other factors as well, though, like interference and how well the router's antennae are aligned with your other network devices. That's also not something you can do much about.
My advice: buy the router and see how it goes. The fact that you're even asking the question tells me that you're going to have a good time with it.

Is the NETGEAR AC1200 a modem and router?
Or a modem, router, and wireless access point?
This guide explains all the features of the AC1200 series of products. The AC1200 was one of the first consumer-grade 802.11ac routers available on the market. However, it has not lived up to its original hype. This article looks at the features of the AC1200 series of products.
The AC1200 is a popular consumer-grade wireless router. It comes with all of the features most users need. For example, you get a 4-port WAN port, which can be used for wired Ethernet. This port is useful for connecting a printer, or connecting two PCs to the Internet using a hub. The 5Ghz band has a theoretical throughput of up to 7 Gbps. Most users will not get this theoretical throughput unless they have a massive number of APs in a small area.
This product has many drawbacks. For one thing, it has a poor firewall. If you use it as a router, you are going to get more ports than you need. It does not support any type of QoS. You can't control your traffic based on bandwidth. Finally, the AC1200 series does not support Bluetooth. So if you need a modem and a wireless access point, you should look elsewhere.
For those reasons, the AC1200 is only suitable as a wireless access point. As a wireless access point, it provides some of the best performance in its class. You get dual-band, and dual-radio functionality. Dual-band allows you to connect to the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands simultaneously. This lets you connect to multiple devices at once. And dual radio lets you connect to more devices with better range.
However, the AC1200 lacks a few features. It does not support mesh networking. It does not support guest networks. You cannot configure the AC1200 as a managed device. And it doesn't support advanced security. All of these are a big problem for the AC1200. Fortunately, there are alternatives. If you are looking for the best solution to this problem, the Nighthawk AC1900 is a good alternative. It has all of the same features, and more.
What is the NETGEAR AC1200? The AC1200 is a wireless router and access point.
How far does NETGEAR AC1200 range?
Is there a way to get a complete overview on the range of the AC1200?
You can get an idea of where it's operating at by using the RangeSelect tool from your Router menu. You'll see a number at the top of the page. In the screenshot below, this is 12.5 meters.
If you find that the router is transmitting at 11.4 meters, then it's probably not operating at full power.
You can also use the tool that shows you the signal strength to get a sense of how strong the signal is and if it's dropping.
