I started this job just over two weeks ago, and I had no idea that Glassdoor would pay me. I read Glassdoor reviews about 5-6 times a day and never thought I'd see my name on a paycheck. But I did. And it's been a blast! It's been a couple of weeks since I've gotten paid so I still have a lot to learn.

About 2-3 weeks into my new job, I started to get the hang of it and things were going pretty well. I worked my way up to the role of Senior Site Reliability Engineer. But then a few weeks ago, the company began to downsize. I was on the chopping block and at first I thought it was a mistake. But I also knew it was probably for the best. If I was still there I probably wouldn't be getting paid anymore.

The first time I got paid for Glassdoor was actually a really strange experience. I received an email from them saying that they'd pay me. They sent me an email with an attachment and I couldn't open it until after work. I opened it on my lunch break and went to check my bank account. I got a notification from Paypal and then I saw the money in my bank account. It was exciting! Then I went home and checked my email again and I had another email from Paypal. It said that they needed me to confirm that I received the money. So I called Paypal to confirm that I did receive the money and I told them that I hadn't opened the attachment. They verified that I did receive the money and that it went out on Friday.

It was a strange feeling knowing that I'm actually going to get paid to read Glassdoor reviews. I remember hearing my dad talking about something similar when I was younger. It sounded like a really fun job and now I get to share that experience with everyone who reads Glassdoor.

When I got paid, I was only aware of the difference between my salary and the salary I'd made before I started working for Glassdoor. I never noticed how much I'd earned in Glassdoor. But I'll always be grateful to the site and the company for giving me a job.
