This is a good thing because the way it works, it protects children (ie users who have not signed up on a site that uses the technology) from getting bombarded with explicit imagery.

What if I want to share a link of an explicit image? Should the people who follow me get to see it, even though I have signed up? You cannot turn the flag off. It may be that Chrome will add an option in the coming months to disable it for individual sites (I'm not a part of Google's team that works on this flag so I'm relying on information from various blogs.
