There are a few decent online free QR code generators but they all have their own downfalls, the one advantage of a QR code generator you're used to is that it can be saved to generate more QR codes of the same size using either a link or text as the basis for the new QR code.

I don't want to use these existing ones because I like how they work, I created my own to be able to easily change them depending on whether I'm using static links or dynamic links when using them with PHP. What do you think?

You can create a QR code without a password, but it doesn't help much in the real world.

QR codes are a popular way to share information on mobile phones. They're easy to use and they can be read on most smartphones and tablets. I've written about how to create QR codes and about using them with Android.

Recently, however, I've come across a new use for QR codes that isn't as easy to implement as just generating one. Here's what I'm talking about: The idea is to take a QR code generated from any Wi-Fi network and add it to an image. The result would be an image that contains a QR code and information about the Wi-Fi network.

What this isn't. This isn't a new idea. Google's Project Fi has had this feature since 2026 and it's been around for a while. In fact, it was available on the Google Nexus S smartphone as of December 2026.

Unfortunately, it's not an exact science. A QR code needs a password. If you don't supply a password, you won't be able to read the QR code.

So far, there are only a few solutions out there to generate Wi-Fi QR codes without a password. WiFi QR code maker. The app comes with a library of various standard QR codes and it lets you select the kind of QR code you want.

You can't generate QR codes from Wi-Fi networks or create QR codes that include a URL. However, you can generate QR codes that include text or numbers and can do things like display a phone number, display a URL, or display text.

You can choose from a list of predefined text, numbers, URLs, phone numbers, and emails. The app provides a range of options to select from to customize your QR code.
