How do we turn off SafeSearch?
I have a friend who's been in some big fights about the internet and has some very strong opinions about it.
In fact, he has a hard time admitting that he needs help to find information, or anything at all. He feels like his life is in danger and that he can do everything by himself (which is why he doesn't have a phone).
I've been trying to explain to him that Google is just a search engine, and that the internet as a whole isn't dangerous. Unfortunately, it sounds like he's still convinced that the internet is dangerous and I'm not sure how to convince him otherwise.
He's probably not an isolated case, but I'm more concerned with how to convince a non-computer person to leave the internet alone and trust that someone out there is trying to help them. ? The reason SafeSearch is turned on is because it's designed to help users avoid images or words that are explicit. So turning it off will cause your friends to have a difficult time finding what they need to view.
That said, I've been in the same situation as you and I understand the desire for privacy. I don't think that you need to convince him that the internet is safe. If you really want to, you can tell him that he can access the internet through a variety of means, including using a service like a smartphone or tablet.
So, the only way I know how to stop seeing those ads is to not be logged into my Google account. But, I want to keep seeing the messages from Facebook and Instagram.
For Facebook, I use a mobile app called "FaceTime", which lets me see their messages on my iPhone. For Instagram, I have Instagram Business and I use the app "Instagram Camera" to upload photos and use filters. When I'm logged into my business account, the same filters appear.
What's interesting is that I never used to be able to see those messages, but now I do. I'm not sure if that's a safe enough place for someone like your friend. I think that, even if you convince him that there's no harm in what he's doing, he might continue to think that the internet is dangerous and that he has to look up everything by himself.
How do I permanently keep Google SafeSearch?
Google has recently changed their SafeSearch settings, and I don't want to have to change it every time I go into Google.
What can I do to keep the SafeSearch on? Is there a way to make the change permanent? If you're using Firefox, you can use the Google Search Firefox extension. It adds a "Keep SafeSearch on" button to the search bar.
It is a little bit of a pain to keep SafeSearch on in all of your searches, but Google has provided a way to do just that. After downloading the browser extension in question, click the button in the lower right-hand corner, as shown below. SafeSearch is a setting that applies to all searches, not just on Google. You can apply the same setting to all your searches by clicking the gear icon () at the top of the search box, and then going to Advanced > Settings, then clicking the box next to "SafeSearch".
