Is it OK for a 11 year old to watch a PG-13 movie?

I'm having a really hard time with this.

Recently my brother and I and my dad, and another sibling are having my cousin over for Thanksgiving break. He will be here tonight and he's 11 years old and his younger sister is 7. His parents and us want to watch the latest movie that came out on Thanksgiving. It was originally rated R in theaters but has a TV-PG rating and we feel it's fine. The last thing I want is for him to go see this movie and be traumatized by it. Does anyone have any suggestions of safe movies for him to watch?

I don't have any answers for you, but I think it's important to make it clear that it's your own personal responsibility to watch what YOU want to watch. If I were your brother or your parents, I'd probably be upset with you if you had to babysit an 11 year old kid who wanted to see some movie - it's not the family's responsibility to prevent him from seeing films he really wants to see.

If the parents really want to see this film, and you're certain that it's safe for your brother, then let them do it. No one needs to have a curfew.
