How much is a 3DS in 2023?

Will the DS ever come back?

(yes it will)

A lot of you will see this, since the post is more than a year old. But I figure now might be a good time for that answer.

First of all, the Nintendo DS didn't die because it was on sale, as most of you already know by now, there were a lot of problems with the launch and what not. The first year or so was rough. But the DS hasn't died because the price went up for a little while.

I have been very lucky when it comes to buying a Nintendo system. Not only do I have my old Gameboy SP, but also I own the 3DS XL, and the DS L (the second generation). Also, I don't forget their first and second system launches. It's a real blessing, I'd say. But one time things didn't go as smoothly as it should. It was a few years after the DS was released, and I bought one for 10 dollars, with all the accessories included, and I felt it was worth every single cent. I loved that thing. It had more than 600 apps to play, you could hook it up via Wi-Fi to your computer, and even though it was a very small portable handheld console, games such as Mario Galaxy were not only great experiences, but also a lot of fun.

When the 2nd system launched, all my friends who had that system and I tried to convince each other to get one, not just for nostalgia or something. The Nintendo DS sold well for quite some time, and Nintendo was really happy with it. They made many Nintendo games, such as Mario Maker, Super Smash Bros, Poketop Tournament, Kirby Air Ride, the Paper Jam series, and many others. All in all, a lot of great games, with some of them being really fun. I enjoyed playing most of them.

But at the same time, the DS was a bit flawed as a portable device. The games were more than nice to play, but you could only play 2 players at a time, so the people around you would get frustrated when trying to play too. And the touch screen wasn't perfect. It could make it very difficult to input commands, which led to games like Mario Kart being way too easy. And when you played certain games, it sometimes got really frustrating because you had to be extra careful if you were pressing any button on the touch screen.

Does Nintendo still support the 3DS?

Nintendo stopped making the DS in 2024.

Will they ever make another handheld again? There are conflicting reports that Nintendo has not planned a successor to the 3DS, or that it is possible that they may release a successor in the future. However, that's not necessarily the same as being in active development.

It's been three years since Nintendo stopped making the DS, and I'd be willing to bet money that if they were planning on developing another handheld, they would have released it by now. What Nintendo is most likely doing is simply waiting to see how the price and availability of the 3DS fares, and then making a decision if they should make a successor or not.

It might best to wait for Nintendo themselves to release an official statement to confirm this, as we do not want to spread rumors. However, I will say this - the odds of Nintendo making a new handheld are really slim. The 3DS' success was due to Nintendo releasing their own unique brand, which most likely could never be recreated (that is unless they do a handheld that follows the same basic design but with a few different bells and whistles). There's also the fact that 3DS sales have been steady so far, whereas they had a huge drop in the first few months after its release. The DS never saw that kind of sales.

The Wii U also seems like it has gotten off to a strong start, which means that Nintendo may be more than ready to jump into a new system. For Nintendo's sake, I hope the 3DS continues to be successful. It is Nintendo's last handheld currently available, and it will be interesting to see what they do next. I never thought I'd have sex again.

Is Nintendo 3DS still sold?

Will Nintendo release the DS, or the 3DS at the same price?

There is one of the most discussed topics that is waiting for a response from Nintendo; what about the 3DS console? Will the DSi XL will be retired to make room for something new like this?
