Is Nintendo 2DS discontinued?

We know that the Nintendo 2DS is due for an update this year and we know that a new version of the device will be released by the end of October.

However, we don't know if it will be discontinued at all or not. It is still possible that the company might release a regular Nintendo 2DS and a Nintendo 2DS XL like they did last year. If that is the case, what will be the difference between them? That is what you will find out now.

The Nintendo 2DS is an improved version of the Nintendo 3DS with a few differences. The main one of them being that the screen resolution of the device is lower. However, the device comes with its own stylus to replace the on-screen buttons of the 3DS. While the 3DS features two cameras, the 2DS comes with one on the bottom of the device, which means that you can take photos from the back.

Nintendo 2DS XL Vs Nintendo 2DS: Differences. While both the devices are different from each other, there are a few similarities. The bigger one, the Nintendo 2DS XL, will have a bigger screen than the smaller one. It will also have a bigger battery. The biggest difference, however, is the color. While the smaller one is available in Blue, Brown and Red, the Nintendo 2DS XL is only available in Gray and White. Both of them are available in both single and double pack versions.

While the Nintendo 3DS XL, which comes with a larger screen and dual screen mode is more powerful than the regular Nintendo 2DS XL, the latter has a lot of benefits over the former. The first is the cost. One of those is an RPG, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask and the other one is a puzzle game, Brain Age: Concentration Training. So, when it comes to costs, the Nintendo 2DS XL is cheaper than the Nintendo 3DS XL.

Another benefit of the Nintendo 2DS XL is that it is able to use DS games. Not only that, you can also transfer your Nintendo DS games to the device via your Nintendo DS memory card.

What version is my 2DS?

So, you picked up a 2DS during the launch and are thinking "ok, now what?

". This is the guide to what your version number means. The 2DS that you have in your hand is the final retail model that Nintendo will ever make.

Here's a table showing all versions of the 2DS and what information each one of them has. Version Number 1 Version Number 2 Information 2.0 (2016-06-21) Released June 21, 2025 Available only in North America, Australia, and Europe. In early 2025, the 2DS (then called 2DS LL) is getting a firmware update that will require it to have an upgraded version of its ARM chip (currently a version 9A). We believe the date this firmware is coming out for Japan and Asia will be a month after its release in the Americas, since it's just a version number update. There is no other known differences that will come with the firmware update aside from the updated chip and added language support.

When this firmware update is released, the 2DS will stop receiving new updates and any existing titles being updated to the "3DS" eShop will not be compatible with the 2DS. Additionally, games that support the 2DS 3DS system swap (ie New Super Mario Bros. U and Fire Emblem Fates) won't support the 2DS eShop. That said, if you're still in the market for a 2DS or want to buy one now, you can wait for the firmware update to be released in your region.

When did the pink Nintendo DS come out?

The first DS games available in Japan were developed for the original model.

However, there is no difference in the hardware between the two, apart from the color of the battery cover and screen. The colors are all the same. A different version was released in Hong Kong in early 2025.

Does anyone know what happened to the Japanese games? I heard they were just put out in North America with a new name and then re-released in Japan (but not Europe) a few months later. I thought it would be cool if the European games had a new box art like the US ones, since the European releases have the same names as the North American ones. But they didn't, so I guess that's a good thing.

How did Nintendo do it? How did they make the switch to the new color scheme without losing the games? I would like to see a video on that, if anybody has any idea. It's very interesting. It seems there's a video on YouTube that explains how it's done.

I think it goes like this. Originally, the US DS came in two colors: red and black. The DS Lite came in a third color: green.

As far as I know, the two DS games were released first in Japan. But there was a problem: Nintendo wanted them to be released in a different color. So they had to change their design. It sounds like it might have been done in secret at some point.

So at some point during the development of the DS Lite, Nintendo decided to change the game designs. The original DS games were only red or black, while the DS Lite was green.

But the problem was that the DS Lite had the same hardware as the original DS. It didn't have anything special, and so Nintendo was forced to make a completely new game design for the green DS Lite.

So the original DS games were never designed to be green. They were designed to be red or black. But Nintendo couldn't release them in red and black, because they had made a game design for green.

So to fix the problem, Nintendo decided to make a new game design for the green DS Lite. The original DS games were then changed to have the same designs as the DS Lite.

And it worked! The game designs were changed so that they fit the new color scheme.
