Why VPN is not working in Android?

How do I connect my Android 13 to VPN?

I'm looking at getting an Android 13 as a replacement for my current 12.

It's slightly better than the 10, but the screen isn't as big, and it doesn't support 4G data (it's not compatible with any 3G network). I'd love to get a second phone (the reason I'm looking at this model is because it has a nice front camera).

The problem is that I want to use my VPN on it. How do I connect to my VPN? Is there any way to set it up? If I can get it to run on 5G, it would be perfect. They don't seem to have the 4G LTE model.

Thanks in advance for any help. EDIT: I guess it's possible that the 13's 4G won't work with my current VPN? It's working great on my old Nexus 4 and Google Nexus 10, though. I don't think you'll be able to use your current VPN with it. I'm pretty sure they're not using the same kind of cellular carrier frequencies. That's my understanding anyway.

You could use Google's own "VPN" apps, but the problem is that they don't allow multiple connections. You only have one network connection. You have to download a newer app for a different device to get this working.

The current best solution I've seen is to use T-Mobile's own VPN app. It's been working well for me so far, though I haven't connected it to the cell carrier yet.

Thanks for the tips! I'm currently using a Google Android 6.

Does Android 13 support PPTP VPN?

In this post we are going to explain a new feature of Android 13 and how it affects you if you have an Android VPN connection.

Most VPN providers support PPTP, but with Android 13 there are also other VPN protocols that are supported as well. This is why when you are connecting to your VPN your traffic will look different on your Wi-Fi router depending on the connection you made.

How PPTP VPN works. VPN protocols do not make direct changes to your network traffic in a way that you can see. They modify how your device's software interacts with the network and the router. These modifications can prevent your IP address from being disclosed, but they also can reveal who you are by exposing information that is only known to your VPN connection. This can cause people to realize that you are using a VPN connection when checking your network traffic.

PPTP is the most secure protocol on the market because it is easy to set up and requires only one extra field than any other protocol. How does PPTP VPN work? PPTP is a relatively simple protocol that operates in a very specific way. The first step is that your traffic is routed through the VPN provider's network. This means that all traffic from your phone goes through the ISP. After this your traffic passes through the VPN provider's network again and is encrypted before it reaches the router that you are connected to. The traffic then continues to leave the router as it is but because your device is connected to the same router, the traffic can be read by your device. This can be done either by looking at your internet connection in settings or by looking in a network monitoring tool.

While PPTP is highly secure, its main flaw is that it leaks very limited information about who you are. Only the number and name of your connection and the IP address can be read.

What information is revealed? PPTP VPN allows your traffic to be read by whoever controls the connection between you and your router, so this is typically the router. This information can be seen in settings under Wi-Fi and other wireless networks.

Information about the VPN connection like the number and name and how to connect can be seen through your router as well. Once the traffic leaves the router it can be read. If you are logging onto a website that requires a login through a website you have visited before this information can be revealed.

Why VPN is not working in Android?

I have android smartphone, when I connected to Wifi.e. I use a Virtual Private Network app to make it secure.

The problem is when I try to connect to that network in Wifi.e. I think it blocks the IP address of my smartphone. Also the VPN app says that I have internet connection, which is only a VPN server which is connected to the network. The VPN app does not have any option to allow or disallow internet connection, like many apps have. So what do I have to do to get it working? You don't necessarily need to open your connection before allowing mobile data in Settings/Connections/Cellular and in Settings/Networks/Wifi.e. What I would do is open my cellular connection first and then let it open. Since the VPN is connected to the same server, that way the VPN app will only request it's connection if the network is open.

Open your phone's cellular connection and try to access a website. Go to Settings/Connections/Cellular and choose "Open". Let it connect for at least 5-10 seconds. Open your VPN app and see if you can connect.

Does Android 13 support VPN?

In my experience the answer is no

The original Nexus 4 smartphone runs stock Android and can't run custom ROMs (at least officially). When Google announced it would be shipping with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box instead of 7.1 it caused many people to become excited because Oreo brought great features such as picture-in-picture and the option for the phone to act as a hotspot/WiFi modem. I had the opportunity to pick up my pre-ordered Google Nexus 4 and immediately start installing the latest ROM available from XDA forums -- the Pixel Launcher, aka MIUI 9.5, and not long after installing the unofficial ROM, I connected to a WiFi hotspot using the phone as a hotspot. With the new phone, I can create VPN profiles in the settings to create additional "VPN Connections" (or if you will) as depicted on pages 10 and 11 in this article. All I had to do was create a custom VPN (VPN Connections) profile, assign it to WiFi hotspot connection, and connect to the VPN just as if you were on any other Wi-Fi hotspot. In this article, I'm going to give my personal recommendation on what phone brand and model should have the best support for Android VPN.

For those that didn't read my article on which phone brand is best, which I wrote just before Nexus 5X was released by HTC. Read through that article now. What I'm about to share with you is one reason for it.

The Nexus 5X was released in late September 2024 as Google's flagship smartphone in America only and in November 2024 in Canada and other places including Europe and Asia. The Google Project Fi program in which I'm signed up allows me to get unlimited 4G LTE in the U.00 per gigabyte of data on the unlimited plans since I pay for them with credit cards. However, I only wanted to use it for a couple of days to test the phone and do away with it without losing money, or having to buy a new phone. That phone is the Huawei Nexus 5X because of the reasons and benefits that it has. There are other benefits to that particular phone as well.
