Is Norton the same as LifeLock?
Norton was originally a PC product, but they've moved to the consumer market.
And as for the LifeLock business, it seems to me that it's basically one of those insurance products for computer users, which would explain the Norton name.
What's really important, however, is that you take every precaution necessary to protect your personal data. If you own the hardware you use for Web surfing, the software that runs on it, and the files that you store online, your data are vulnerable to anyone who can get their hands on it. If that happens, and you lose your personal information, you could find yourself without access to services you count on, with an uncomfortable problem on your hands.
The problem, of course, is that if you don't take care, you won't have access to the services in the first place. Let's look at how Norton compares to LifeLock in this area. Norton's Norton AntiVirus and Firewall comes in for an equal share of the blame. If you don't have an up-to-date copy of it on your machine, you're missing a vital layer of protection. The same can be said for the Firewall and your email program, which can make your data even more vulnerable than the virus software alone.
That's what makes LifeLock so attractive, really. Unlike the antivirus software and firewalls that come with other software packages, LifeLock is a service that you pay for monthly. That means that if you don't use the service, you don't have to worry about an out-of-date antivirus or firewall.
Is LifeLock the same as LifeShield? Although LifeLock is a fairly recent name, it's quite different from LifeShield. The LifeShield brand name was created by a company called T. R. Nelson, which was acquired by Kepware, Inc. In September of 2024. That was the company that invented the LifeShield product line, which was then licensed to LifeLock for marketing. LifeLock is still owned by T.
