How do I stop Norton charging my credit card?
My son and I live in a suburb of Atlanta.
We use my husbands credit card for all kinds of things, from groceries to movies. A few days ago, he went through the house and found many items he could have bought himself without using his card. When I confronted him he said that he was testing us. How can he test me if the transactions are happening right now? He knows it is a no charge account (on the internet anyway) and we've never gotten any testing notifications from our bank. What am I doing wrong or should I simply pay up? He has been using my card because my number is on it.
Your Question(s) and my Response: Norton Testing your accounts, and making the charges with someone else's number, is not Testing a person. I also see where your son got the idea that it's okay because he's had some kind of testing in the past and it was OK. Norton even says it on their webpage, as you may be aware.
However, this is not any Testing that you and I know of; your son didn't Test your accounts for 6 months or 1 year prior; you are receiving Testing that's right now. As your son already indicated in his question, you are the one being billed and charged for everything using your account. He knows that it's your account and he's attempting to defraud your account. Don't think of this as a Test; you just got caught. You and I need to get you and your son help.
To understand what Norton is doing to you and your son, I'm going to talk a bit about Fraud (and how it happens). What is Fraud? Norton isn't running an Testing program; they're committing what is referred to as Fraud. That's the intentional deception of a person or company to obtain money or other value (ie, your credit card info, your password, or your identity theft and social security numbers).

Is Norton free with Xfinity?
I have recently purchased a refurbished netbook and Xfinity Internet.
While I love my new computer I notice that Norton anti-virus and McAfee Security Center are not included in my package and they have to be purchased separately. Does anyone know if this is true? I would hate to start the year out with a slow computer because of the lack of protection and performance of the computer not being optimized for my needs. I would appreciate your feedback.
I'd just read your response one of the post. I'm sorry you won't be happy with mine. I've had nothing but good luck with NORTON products both here and at the office. I will admit, however, that some "extras" like antivirus might make the system faster, but will it improve the performance of the OS? I really can't put anything past Microsoft! I just hope yours is better than mine has been. If it is, then you shouldn't be having trouble! But you never know.just ask me.it may not be! LOL (if I'm wrong here, that is!
Just an FYI. I do know the difference between what's bundled with what - because sometimes it's completely random. Sometimes they put the OS with the product. Sometimes they just bundle the OS and the app. And, as was mentioned, sometimes it's actually bundled with the product. But that's a pretty generic answer.
There's usually an option to buy a certain level of product and then upgrade your subscription after that's done. Again, don't know how that works specifically with the cable provider. Just my little bit of knowledge.and it ain't much.
I recently switched from free internet/antivirus services provided through Comcast to Internet Essentials. Norton Antivirus and SystemWorks (the security program) were included, along with free online email services. So far, so good. I still can't understand how they expect me to pay extra if they provide free access to so many things, but then again I'm no business expert, just a regular Joe.
Does anyone else have any experience? Would you use a home pc for surfing instead of the phone / laptop? If so, would you then subscribe for email and some antivirus? I had previously been with MSN since they provided free home windows mail plus antivirus and antispyware on their MSN service.
