Is Chrome remote Access good?

Does Google Chrome Remote Access provide a good web browser. I am wondering if it is better than IE's remote desktop feature that we had last year. That was very buggy and slow.

I don't need any of the extra stuff like chat, screensharing, or file transfer. The main thing I would like is if I could access my files from the laptop on my home network when I am on the road.

I will not use it to remotely control my Windows machine. I just want to be able to view files, print, email, and such from my laptop at home while I am on the road. I just don't want to have to set up a VNC or terminal server on my home PC and have to log in to a remote Windows desktop every time I need to access those files.

There are many alternatives. Try them out. I don't think there is any real difference in functionality and performance between any of them. It's always a trade-off between different options for each situation.

The main thing is for you to get the features you want with the option you feel the most comfortable using. For me, it's the ability to switch between local and remote connections (and the ability to log out of remote connections) quickly.

Is it worth trying? Absolutely. I have been using it for a couple months now and haven't had any problems with it. We are going to start a new project soon where we have a user who will be accessing their local hard drive remotely via remote desktop while they will also be using an Android mobile device and tablet connected via the same network as the PC. The client will use a desktop application called ScreenFlow (free) that I think will do everything we need it to do. There are a lot of options out there to try to accomplish what we need to do. We just want something we can set up and forget about. I don't want to have to get involved every time they want to access a file that needs to be modified. ScreenFlow may be what we want but we haven't yet tried it.

I've tried a few other solutions out there, but they all suffer the same shortcomings as the one you tried.

Is Google remote Access free?

No way!

When using remote access technology for computer users, the fact that you're spending money on the software and service may be an obvious point of tension. For some people, it just feels like a waste of money when you think about the work you could be doing for free. This post will take a look at remote access services and discuss if Google Apps really is worth the money?

Remote Access Technologies. Remote access is a way of accessing your computer from a computer or another location by a remote user. It's a common method of accessing remote computers within schools, workplaces, libraries, and homes. There are many kinds of remote access technology but remote desktop, internet connection sharing (ICS), instant messaging and VPN are all examples. Some people also use mobile remote access technology to access the same computer from anywhere via a Wi-Fi enabled device.

Benefits. Benefits of using remote access technology can include: Security - remote access means that you can access and work with your computer from anywhere. This means the computers and passwords are more secure.

Reduce bandwidth - Remote desktop software uses less bandwidth than using the entire web browser. You are only sending key strokes from your computer to the remote computer. Your internet provider isn't getting paged every time you move between sites.

Sharing - remote access software provides a means of sharing one computer over multiple connections. Your laptop can give access to your home network, allowing for family members and visitors to access your home machines.

Remote administration - If your home network has multiple computers connected to it, there might be times where your remote access software needs to be updated on all the computers. This can be managed more easily if the remote access software resides on the workstation itself.

Remote control - Using remote access software allows you to control your workstation remotely. You can make changes and even re-start your computer.

Remote sharing - Remote access allows for you to collaborate with people in distant places. You can provide remote access on company computers and allow staff to see work from your computer.

Remote backup - If you have a hard drive that is full of irreplaceable data, making a back up copy can mean the difference between the data being stored safely or not. Remote backup software allows for your computers to be backed up without a physical connection.

Is Chrome Remote Desktop still available?

For about a week now, the button "Connect to Desktop" has not been available in Google Chrome, which would mean that one of Chrome's functions as a Remote Desktop client is discontinued. A little while ago, I was working with a colleague on a new project on a Mac, and I needed to have some sort of access from my PC. He could access my Mac through Remote Desktop, but it only allows remote control of a single user on the Mac, so we needed another way.

I was thinking about getting myself a laptop with an HDMI port, so I could use my Macbook Air as a "virtual machine", as it is already a Mac (we need to work on Ubuntu to be able to write code). I wanted to use Google Chrome to access my colleague's workstation on the Mac, because he uses Chrome Remote Desktop (CRD), which would allow me to do that without needing a Mac laptop.

This is actually possible on Windows as well, but I want to know whether this feature is still available on the Mac. If anyone has this problem and uses a solution (either Google Chrome Remote Desktop or something else), I would appreciate your opinion and suggestions on it. Thank you for your time!

EDIT: It was in my "Apps" tab, I didn't think of it earlier and I did the same on my Win 7 install. Is it normal that it isn't shown when Chrome itself doesn't show any apps?
