How does Aloha help in consequence assessment?

Consequence is defined by the U.

S. National Science Education Standards as the impact of an action on someone or something other than the actor. Consequence occurs with any action regardless of context or intent. It applies to the effects of all actions, including inaction, both for a person and/or things of value. However, consequence does not need to have some direct link to past events or situations. It can occur with any action. Consequence assessment has become more prominent in environmental education courses but is included in many other general education courses. In this article, I will be focusing on how it is applied to ecology, environmental science, and environmental education coursework.

What Is Consequence? A consequence occurs whenever someone or something other than the actor experiences a change as a result of an action. If action and consequence were directly linked then only those actions that directly caused a consequence would be described as bad. However, a consequence can occur when there is no cause-and-effect link between action and reaction. An example of this is the impact that a tree frog may have on its environment if it eats mosquitos. Although there was no direct causation, this tree frog's actions had a very strong negative impact on the environment around it.

How Does Consequence Help in Ecological Assessment? One definition of ecosystem assessment is examining the condition and the functioning of an ecosystem by assessing environmental factors, environmental characteristics, the population, and its relationship to those factors. Ecological assessments are used to make informed decisions about the consequences of potential actions on the community or ecosystems themselves. For example, an impact statement or environmental impact statement is analysis of possible consequences, specifically human health and welfare, environmental quality, and property, of various actions in light of past, current, and reasonably foreseeable future activities.

Ecologists study consequences by studying the interactions between organisms in a specific habitat. They understand that all individuals and communities affect one another in the way they use their limited resources. This way of thinking leads to an assessment of consequences. One way we would analyze a community is to first determine the resources that all of the species need. Let's say, for example, that these resources are food, water, shelter, sunlight, genetic material, and so on.
