What is DTube used for?
DTube has been launched as a decentralized video sharing platform that is completely censorship resistant. Our mission is to make it possible for anybody to create and share videos, no matter their political, racial or religious beliefs.
In order to reach this goal, DTube enables anyone to upload, publish, watch and search videos without restrictions. In the end, we believe that a free and open internet will bring more opportunities to people around the world.
A summary of our goals: An open source software that enables anyone to publish videos on the internet without being censored. A decentralized video hosting network that is 100% censorship-free. A community-driven protocol that enables users to verify the credibility of the content they consume, and reward credible publishers. A protocol that uses blockchain technology to ensure that every single video is immutable and that publishers cannot delete videos that have been made public on the network. DTube is a protocol that allows users to search for and consume any video without any censorship, in a totally decentralized way. The video data is stored in a decentralized hash table, and when users search for a video, their requests are propagated to nodes in the network. If the requested video exists, it is downloaded to the user's browser and displayed. The protocol is designed to enable anyone to become a video publisher and to run a video sharing network without any costs.
We want to build a community of users who work together to build and promote a protocol and platform for free and open internet. Who created DTube? DTube was built by volunteers working from their homes and from various offices around the world. DTube started as a one-man operation in 2023, when anonymous developer used DTube to upload his own personal videos. Since then, the platform has become an open source project with over 5,000 contributors and more than 10,000 commits.
Over the years, there have been many volunteers who have volunteered their skills to help build DTube. Thanks to all of them.
There have been more than 5,000 volunteers who have contributed to the development of DTube since 2023. If you would like to get in touch with the community, feel free to join our Discord server, or start a GitHub issue. We're always looking for new contributors!
Who are the owners of DTube?
I know that is a question that has been asked many times before. So in this article, I would like to explain the different parts of the DTube story. This is not a one man show. There is a group of people who work with me on the platform.
In my last post, I wrote about some of the people that work with me on DTube. This post will cover the other people that help run DTube. The first person I want to mention is Vadim. He is the founder and CEO of DTube.
Vadim is a programmer. He is also the guy who made the first version of the web application for DTube. He is also a really nice person. He works from his home in Russia. He has a dog named Kermit. If you want to contact him, you can email him at: I met Vadim on Twitter. I had been following him for quite a while before I met him. I was always amazed at how he managed to build this web application from scratch. There is a lot of things that he must have done. But I don't know what they are. He is a very humble person. And he doesn't like to talk about himself. And he doesn't like to talk about DTube. He is the face of DTube, but he doesn't like to talk about himself. So I have to do it. Vadim is a smart guy. He is a nice person. And he has great ideas. I really appreciate Vadim's hard work on the DTube project. If you don't know what DTube is, here is a short description. DTube is a free and open source social video platform. It is based on the blockchain. You upload your videos to the DTube platform. And other users can watch them. There are two ways for users to find your videos. The first way is to search for you on the platform.
