Why wont my VPN work on my wifi?
I have an Airport Express wifi modem/router with a built in VPN.
I use my router as a hotspot and then connect to my laptop through the VPN. If I open my VPN and connect to my wifi hotspot, it works fine. If I close the VPN on my laptop and then reconnect to the same wifi, I get "Network Error: Could not connect to your WiFi network." It asks for my password and I enter it, but it says it cannot connect. I can't figure out why.
Re: ? Is the VPN service running on the Airport Express? I'm guessing you are connecting via ethernet. Do you see any error message? You should be able to at least connect to the VPN service if it's running. It's possible that the settings are set to automatically connect and then log you in but there is no connection to the VPN service. You may want to try turning on automatic login.
You can check the connection by using the ipconfig command in the command prompt. You can find it under "Start -> Run -> type in cmd" It should list the IP address of the router. Is that what you see? The ipconfig command will tell you whether you are using the correct subnet mask. It's also useful to see the DNS server IP address.
You can also run "nslookup www.google.com" and it will show you the IP address and DNS servers that your machine is using.
Once you see what the IP addresses are, you can use the "ipconfig /all" command in the command prompt and it will show you all of your IP addresses. What's the IP address of the wireless router and the IP address of the wired Ethernet? Are you sure the subnet mask is the same on the wireless and the wired? Are you sure the IP address of the wireless router and the IP address of the wired Ethernet are the same? I don't have a laptop, but I'll see if I can find a copy of my setup. Do you know what version of Windows is on the Airport Express? Are you sure that the wireless router and the Airport Express are on the same subnet? Are you sure that the wireless router and the wired Ethernet are on the same subnet?
How do I stop VPN from blocking my internet?
I use StrongVPN on my computer.
I pay for it monthly, and I love that I can use it with no logging, and the connections are so fast. I also use it to connect to my wireless router.
However, the day after I install it, my internet stops working. I have to reconnect it, and it works fine until the next month. I've checked my internet settings on my router, and they're all correct. Is there a way I can stop it from blocking my internet?
If you want to use it as a wireless router, then you might want to consider getting another router that doesn't require a VPN connection. If you are concerned about your internet data being logged, you can use a paid VPN service. If you don't care about the data log, then you can use a free VPN service.
If you are paying for StrongVPN, then you are probably already using a paid VPN service. If you want to use a paid VPN service, then you can probably just cancel your StrongVPN subscription, and you can get a paid VPN service from another vendor.
What you need to do is to uncheck the box "connect to a VPN server", or remove the "VPN server" from the list in the "Network" settings of your router. This will prevent the VPN from connecting to your router. However, it will still allow the VPN to connect to the internet.
The box "connect to a VPN server" is just there to help you connect to your router, and not to your router's internet. I am using strongvpn and it does not work. The router settings are correct but when I click on the connection, the message says the VPN is not connected to the router. I thought it might be my router but I checked with my mobile phone which works fine and it has strongvpn installed on it. I can connect to the router fine but not my own laptop. Any ideas?
