How do I access QuickMemo+?
What do I need to do to access this window
I cannot seem to find a button in my system tray to access it, nor can I find the window in the settings dialog. Thanks. As of KDE 4.6 the "Quick Memo" is a window.
There is no button in your system tray. You have to open the System Settings -> Power Management and choose from there. This is the "Plasma Desktop" (Qt-based Plasma) and it is under the Plasmoid section of the Power Management control panel.
To get this new feature, run KDE 4.6 from a terminal as root and issue the command: plasma --config-module quickmemo. This will add the window to the quick application list, and give it a new icon.
What does QuickMemo do?
QuickMemo gives you the ability to write directly on to an image. The tool can support multiple windows, with every window having its own QuickMemo history, which can be used as a rich text editor too. This allows for maximum flexibility.
You can then save your document (or any selection in the document) in a variety of file formats, such as bitmap, JPEG, GIF, PNG, tif, JPG, BMP, or PDF. If no selection is made, QuickMemo saves the document in the last selected format, and also creates a 'Save As' version of the document.
QuickMemo even has a built in clipboard, and can copy/paste formatted text, images and images from within the file. Other features include multiple fonts, font colour, font size and font style adjustment.
QuickMemo is now available in the latest 3.3 Windows Update, and can also be downloaded from I'm a bit tired of that one, you'd think there's something wrong with it since we're using the Windows update service. What, and lose an update? Hehe! There are always issues like that when new versions are pushed through. If you want to be able to take full advantage of your new Windows Update environment, then you need to make sure that your systems are fully patched. If the update goes through then you don't have that problem. But as far as I know, those updates are still not enabled on all platforms.
Not all update packages are pushed through.
Why is QuickMemo blocked?
I am trying to find out why QuickMemo is blocked from my site. Quickmemo.net is a free image sharing and annotation site, allowing people to share small versions of their own images.
The issue is that the Quickmemo script doesn't work on .htaccess or php blocklists. Is it because it's too long or is there a known list of .htaccess sites not to allow it? I'd like to allow it for everyone.
Thanks! QuickMemo uses some pretty nasty tricks that include using inline scripts, and javascript to perform certain operations on images. So unfortunately, if you want to allow it, you probably can't.
Also, it seems to be against TOS, which is fine.
