How do I setup a proxy server?

What does a proxy server do?

A proxy server is a service that acts as a middleman for web traffic. The proxy server then forwards a request for web content to another location, usually to a web server of your choosing. This enables you to access web content in anonymous fashion from any location on the internet.

This is useful if you want to access a blocked website such as Facebook or Gmail from a school or public library. For example, the school firewall is blocking access to these sites. If your computer is inside the school, you are unable to access them. However, if you access the sites via a proxy server, it is as though you are accessing the site from another location. Therefore, the school firewall does not block the sites.

How do I configure my proxy settings? Most Windows machines have a menu option or tool called Internet Options. This menu option will allow you to modify your proxy settings. You can adjust the proxy settings to point your browser to your proxy server. Here are the steps:

Go to the Internet Options tool by clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Options. From the General tab, click on the Settings button. In the Settings window that opens, click on the Lan Settings button. The Lan Settings window opens. Click the Properties button at the bottom of the window.

In the Properties window that opens, click on the LAN Adapter button. Click on the Settings button in the Properties window that opens. In the Settings window that opens, click on the Connections button. In the window that opens, click on the LAN Settings button. In the Settings window that opens, click on the LAN Settings button. In the Settings window that opens, click on the Proxies tab. In the Settings window that opens, click on the Use a Proxy Server button. In the Use a Proxy Server window that opens, enter the address of your proxy server, and then click OK. Note: If you are unable to find your proxy server in the list, try using a proxy server that is closest to your location. After changing your proxy settings, you may need to close and reopen your browser to use the new settings.

How do I setup a proxy on my 3ds?

I want to be able to watch media on my 3ds (ie video from the browser, Netflix, etc). I read through some topics in this forum and saw that it's possible to use a proxy on the 3ds, but I didn't find any tutorials on how to set it up.

Is there anybody here who knows how to do that? Or could point me to a tutorial or something? Re: ? Well first of all, when you put the 3ds into sleep mode or reboot it, the network settings go back to the factory settings. So if you don't care about those settings you can just put it to sleep mode and open up the game and play right away. Also if you have wifi hotspot enabled on your 3ds, you can use that as a proxy. Just make sure you are using the same internet you would use on a computer.

The only other thing I have seen is that if you want to play online games that require a proxy, I think you have to use a program like Nintendo Download (its free) to set it up. I didn't know there was a way to use wifi hotspot as a proxy, I was always thinking of using the browser on my computer as a proxy, but that didn't seem to work on the 3ds. I tried to connect my 3ds to wifi hotspot and to browse the internet from my pc with chrome. The 3ds isn't able to connect to the internet, although it says I'm connected, when I try to load a website, a message comes up saying "Your connection is not private".

If I try to open firefox and load a website on the 3ds, it connects, but it doesn't load anything. I really don't know what to do, so if anybody could help, that would be great. Thanks! Sorry for the late reply, I was on holiday for a few days.

How do I setup a proxy server?

I'm going to be setting up a proxy server for our network, mainly so we can get around the stupid firewall on our Windows 7 PC's. I've done it before with a previous employer, but never on this scale and at this time in my life.

What I need is for the "outside" to see the outside, and the inside to see the inside, from a software perspective. What is the best software to use for this? I have no experience with this so I don't know the best way to do this. This is an example of what I am trying to accomplish: Windows Firewall: Example of what I want: Is there a software program that will allow me to set this up and make it work? EDIT: I have used the following software and it worked fine for me: ZAP: This is what I used to set up my former employer's proxy server. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. Thanks to everyone who responded and provided information. I will read through all of it and get back to you when I have a better idea of what I am trying to do.

I would like to stress that this is for educational purposes only. My job is to help teach security concepts to others, not to actually secure a network. I understand that we need to secure our network, and I'll help you do that, but I'm only going to go as far as the security classes I am teaching, which are very basic.

I'll also note that I have been working on this for quite some time now and I'm not close to being finished with the project. That said, I did find some answers to my question. This is what I learned: A proxy server: Is simply a computer that is used to get to another computer. The way it gets to the other computer is by doing a request to the internet that goes to the proxy server.

The internet acts as a hub for requests, and sends the request to the proxy server.
