Why is Google blocking QuickMemo?
Google is blocking QuickMemo from indexing. I have made numerous attempts to get it unblocked. Google does not provide any information as to why it is blocking my app, but it seems that it is happening in Europe.
QuickMemo is a free app that allows you to put your own notes or `self-help' notes on web and mobile devices. It is the single most widely used note-taking app amongst non-techie people. I am a Google Apps Premier Partner. I have listed QuickMemo as a featured app on my own Google Apps for Education account, and I have the QuickMemo app listed as an "App If It's Free" user-submitted app in the Google Apps Marketplace.
The app is already in the Google Apps marketplace, but for some reason, Google does not want it to be indexed. I have been getting emails from Google Apps support that all my emails are being blocked from indexing, and I have been trying to get it unblocked for 3 days now. At present, there is no reason for Google to block my app from indexing.
I have tried to get it unblocked by setting up an alternate search engine in Google Webmaster Tools. But it is not working.
I tried to get it unblocked by explicitly adding the app name to the blacklist in Webmaster Tools. I added "QuickMemo" to the "My blacklisted sites" and tried to add it to "Blocked sites". But that did not work.
I contacted Google Apps support, but they did not respond to my enquiry, and I have not been able to get them to unblock the app either. I have tried to get it unblocked by contacting Google Apps Marketplace Support, but the support staff did not give me any information. They just said that I would get the answer to my question from the Google Apps Premier Partners, and asked me to just keep trying.
Here are a few threads on the same topic. The threads are over a year old, and Google has not answered any of the issues raised.
If you can't get the app unblocked, would it be possible or advisable to upload the app to your own web server, where you would have full control over the app and the server?
