Can I do copywriting for free?

Can a 15 year old do copywriting?

Maybe they should start reading copywriting blogs sooner.

There's a lot of talk about teens making it as a writer, at this point I'd say, let them try to write for newspapers or online publications that don't require you to be 18 and over. I'm not sure if you can work for most local papers here, although some might just be willing to hire you on.

The problem is it's a bit tough to get started and then once you do, it's difficult to know when to quit. There are too many ways to make money, depending on what you like to do (although the writing part is actually harder than what I thought it was). For instance, there's writing on social networks, ebooks, articles, websites, and a ton of other stuff. It's always good to have a goal in mind and work towards it. Maybe you want to write a novel, it's easy to figure out which sites to join, like Amazon.

When you start out, maybe you'll be lucky and find a website that's looking for content that doesn't pay much. For instance, I found an ad for content for a website, and I thought, Wow, that's cool, I want to post here!, so I signed up. But, I found out you can't advertise your own site unless it's approved (I didn't realize I'd need to apply to get it approved), so I had to close it down. Sometimes you'll find an opportunity like that, other times it's a job posting or a freebie for a short story or something.

What to do. As mentioned above, get paid to write content and make money off it. Find an ad for websites or books and post content on the site.

Join freelance websites like Elance and Guru. Create an ebook. Get your own website for content. Start a blog. Create a book club. Sell items on Amazon. Get into affiliate marketing. Get paid to play video games. What not to do. Avoid writing for social networks and e-mail sites, unless you really know what you're doing.

How do I start freelance copywriting with no experience?

I'm a 21-year-old college student living in a dormitory at the moment. My parents own their own publishing company and have been in the industry for a long time. I started watching online as far back as January 2026, but decided to join the site in December and have learned a lot from this site over the past few months, especially how to write copy on WordPress. I don't know much of anything about copywriting on Mac platforms, just that I'm on my phone 24/7, and if I get a chance to sit down, I can type things out on my laptop. Does anybody have any tips or suggestions for me, or should I just start freelancing out of nowhere?

Bryan. Hi Bryan. My name is Chris and I am happy to help. When you begin it is very important to be honest with yourself about where you are at with your writing and to not expect to produce fantastic results right away. I think you already know you're smart but that should never stop you from applying yourself to something you are passionate about. If you love copywriting and have the best intentions in the world, then you will likely succeed in producing some nice results.

Here are some places to start from: Start at Copyblogger.com and read the How to Write Better Copy section (it will cost you, but it is worth it). It is a free resource that may be some of the most difficult to read content out there but it is an important foundation to start with.

Next, check out other forums that pertain to copywriting (eg. Copyblogger's Copyblogger Help Forum) and read through the various posts there.

Finally, visit a freelance marketplace like Elance and take a look at their forums. You can usually find 'freelancers' from your area and ask them to post their rates in the 'discussions' forum. Then you will be able to see what they are actually charging and you may get an idea of what your price should be. Note that it will always seem higher because that's how many bids you are putting out there in order to 'win' the job so you need to keep that in mind when looking for work.
