Do visual timers work?
What are your personal experiences?
Does it "feel" like people pay attention when you do a visualization, even though you can be 100% sure they are in their minds with you, and could have been looking at the clock and thinking about other things at any time? Does this work for you? I've got friends who have had success with it. They'll tell me stuff like, "Yeah, but not all the time". Sometimes people get mad. There's nothing wrong with them getting angry. But then again, sometimes people get mad because they can sense that they could "get into it", but when they think about it, and "decide" not to try, they're still stuck with all the emotions/thoughts they could have if they didn't decide to not try.
Do your friends have an "exact" process they follow before they really get into it? Do you know anything that might help them? Do you know how successful it is for some others you've met? They claim that it works for them. So it must have some validity.
But there are also many people that see how successful some others are, and start giving up on themselves! The self-doubt creeps in. They say, well, if it works for those others, why would it work for me? And they just continue "thinking" about other things, like what to do with the kids tonight. I'd like for them to see how helpful it is to "stop thinking and get into it" instead. But they won't hear it. Why not? They'll just keep thinking about going to the movies.
In short, it feels good to me that people say they feel the same way! But sometimes they need a little nudging. I'm willing to nudge.
If it's like in yoga.and meditation. I'm talking about the actual visualizations. It's like you make your breath, relax your thoughts, and let it go.
Like right now. Right now. You notice I'm not sitting here talking to you.I'm breathing.
I'm not worried about doing so right this minute or any of that stuff. I'm just "sitting". Even though people are always "doing".I'm just breathing. The air moves in my nose, the lungs expand and fill with air, and the heart continues to beat.
Is there a timer app that stays on screen?
My family has a lot of gadgets and the kids seem to be constantly having their phones out.
I would like to have an app that is always on and will count how many minutes the phone is left on. I know there are apps that will count down, but I would like to have an app that actually counts down.
I tried this app but it will only work with the phone screen off. I'm not sure if the phone is off or not. Is there any way to tell? It can't count down from 0 so I can't use that.
Hey there! I am not sure if this works with the phone screen off, but try this. I think it may do the trick. Open up the "Settings" app (I'm on an iPhone, so it may be a different name on Android devices). Then scroll down to the bottom of the list, and click "Time". On the next screen, click "Set Automatically", then "Enable". You can also click "Set Alerts" to have the timer warn you when the phone goes to sleep, or it will automatically turn off at 5 minutes or after a set period of time.
You can also do this with the "Alarm" app. It will set the phone to ring at a certain time. Open up the "Settings" app (I'm on an iPhone, so it may be a different name on Android devices).
