Can MLB.TV detect a VPN?

Does unlocator work for MLB?

I haven't found any reference to that so here is my guess. The purpose of the site would be when looking at results to know who is in and who is out, not to just show each hitter a photo of himself. And if you look at those photos it is clear they don't have the baseball or bats on there. So I'm assuming that even without any info like stats about the person taking a picture. It's pretty easy to deduce the information you are looking for.

Can MLB.TV detect a VPN?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It's a way to make your home computer or device untraceable on the internet, and it also lets you appear to be visiting websites from any country other than the one your computer or device is in. Because the content is being delivered from a server in a different country, it appears to be coming from there.

For example, a VPN can let you use an US Netflix account to watch Hulu, which is not available in the US. Or it could let you watch US sports streaming like ESPN or MLB.TV which is only available to users in the US and then re-stream it back to your home.

So if MLB.TV was to detect that your IP address is not in the United States, would it stop working? Would MLB.TV detect that you are using a VPN? It would indeed stop working because MLB.TV is hosted in the United States, so they want to make sure that its users are within the US.

And MLB.TV says that it has never detected a VPN connection and has never seen that kind of behavior before.

But the MLB.TV team says that it will soon release an update that will make it possible to detect whether a user is behind a VPN. And the team is notifying users that it will take around one to two days to roll out the update, with an estimated time of 1-2 weeks, depending on user demand.

The update will take place by making a minor software upgrade and will be rolled out to users in order of IP address.
