I haven't found any reference to that so here is my guess. The purpose of the site would be when looking at results to know who is in and who is out, not to just show each hitter a photo of himself. And if you look at those photos it is clear they don't have the baseball or bats on there. So I'm assuming that even without any info like stats about the person taking a picture. It's pretty easy to deduce the information you are looking for.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It's a way to make your home computer or device untraceable on the internet, and it also lets you appear to be visiting websites from any country other than the one your computer or device is in. Because the content is being delivered from a server in a different country, it appears to be coming from there.
