Can you locate someone by phone number on Google Maps?

How can I track a phone number location for free?

A phone number may be your best tool to track a phone.

If you know its name, number and location it could be possible to locate them with an app like Palscan. You can't exactly say it's possible to track someone free when that person needs to be tracked, but it's pretty easy.

The first problem is a little more difficult to overcome, ie how can I know the location of a phone that isn't turned on? A friend told me of a free app called Tango. It uses your iPhone's hardware location sensors, so it doesn't need to be powered on and it actually works in the background if you don't tap the icon. It also has other features which make it worth using. You need an iPhone 4 or later to use this app. I used it to track my sister. She was on her phone in an airport when it was time to take off. The results were fairly good. It didn't work for the phone owner, who was at work (but probably not in the office, more likely at lunch). They weren't great, but they were good enough to figure out he was in an airport.

The most important step in finding a phone is determining what the phone is named and getting their cell phone number. Both are really simple tasks. Most of the time you will find their phone. This process worked for us.

Then you just open the app and wait for the phone to turn on. Once it is on you have the location of the phone. There is a little map that will show you where it is and where it's been. It's pretty great. If someone knew where I was I would go on Tango and see. The app can also show how fast someone is driving. We tried this on a few people and only one had a speed of less than 10 miles an hour. If we ever go on a trip where the cell phone is turned off I think it'll be interesting to track it again. Just be careful where you go.

It's pretty cool. It's kind of fun to look around while you do it. I hope it never turns off.

Can you locate someone by phone number on Google Maps?

Yes you can locate a phone number on Google Maps.

Google is now indexing millions of phone numbers on the web, and they're making them searchable in new Google Mobile.

You'll need to sign into your Gmail account on a mobile browser, like Chrome or Safari, and then use this code: and your phone number as the location. A dropdown shows places that match your number, as well as more accurate and less expensive options from Google.

So, for example, using 1-800-5555 you'll get all kinds of options, not just places. And 1-800-5555 doesn't show up anywhere when I type it. But if you were to be able to type 1-800-5555 into the address bar as the query, then that's where those phone numbers would come up on the map.

This works for Google Maps, but does it work for any other mapping or location service? Here's a list of services I've tried to locate someone by phone number on in the past. It doesn't always work, but it's worth trying: Waze Yes! The service provides a place link in addition to its standard location pin, which displays the address. You'll get a "directions" link on the search page. For example, enter "1337 S. Van Dyke Street" into Waze and it will give you that address instead of the pin.

Foursquare Yes. Use our app to get a place link in addition to a pin. Enter the phone number and it'll point you to places that match your phone number (there's no need to have that number linked to your Foursquare account).

GPS My Location Yes. Use our GPS My Location mobile app to get a place link.

Mapquest No. Search the Maps API. See above for other ways of locating people by phone number.

Doorstep No. Use the Maps API to find places near your phone number, like above.

What about finding someone's address by phone number? Here's a search for the home address of "92355" on Google Maps no results. What's the future for Google Maps phone number searches?
