What is the proxy setting for Psiphon?

Why is Psiphon not working anymore?

Hey, I have been having a bit of trouble with psiphon.

I can't seem to stream any content from psiphon. I'm using the psiphon website, and I always get "Connection failed to server" when attempting to login. For this reason, I was thinking of installing VLC and stream my movies through that. Has anyone had this problem before? Is it an extension of the problem that I am having?

You can try VLC, but I think psiphon is mainly for streaming content, not for local playback (though I guess you could use VLC as a proxy to stream content to the psiphon website, but don't know if they will let you do that). A lot of the stuff on psiphon seems to be very old now, and is pretty much only for streaming. But it still works pretty good for that.

If you are trying to stream a movie (for example) to a friend in a different country, or to someone who doesn't have psiphon installed, VLC will work fine, and you can even connect to other peoples' psiphons to watch the movie through them. If you are streaming a movie to a computer in a different country, or to someone who doesn't have psiphon installed, VLC will work fine, and you can even connect to other peoples' psiphons to watch the movie through them. But not really. If you are both outside the US, I am pretty sure that vlc won't work. You'd have to be within the US to use the psiphon website.

What I had assumed with this post is that you may have had to use vlc to view your psiphon, and then once you were finished with it, move it to psiphon (I had also assumed that you wouldn't want to stay connected to vlc after you've finished your psiphon), in which case you would end up streaming your psiphon. Or maybe you meant you were thinking about downloading the content you streamed using vlc, via psiphon, but then moving it to your psiphon? In that case, you can go ahead and do that.

What is the local proxy port for Psiphon 3?

I am trying to set up Psiphon 3 (the free VPN service) on a remote Windows 10 machine. In the Psiphon settings dialog, I am asked to enter a local proxy port. I googled and found a page that tells me the values are as follows:

But when I go to Psiphon, I am not asked to enter a proxy server and port. My local Internet Service Provider seems to be giving me a very strange error on port 80 for their connection to the web: What's up with this? And is it possible to configure Psiphon 3 to use this proxy for accessing the Internet? If so, how do I do that? As I mentioned earlier, I'm not asking for "free" help. It's already been established that I paid for my subscription. I am simply asking if it is possible to set Psiphon 3 to use this proxy in order to get better performance.

Edit: Please read all of what I write, thanks! PS: I had to re-download my Psiphon account to make sure everything was working properly, and then install it from scratch after that. For me, this was a necessary precaution because every time I tried to change any settings and save them, the Psiphon software would give me an error saying that it couldn't do anything because my subscription was "inactive". I had been running for about a month without problems, and then all of a sudden I started having problems.

PPS: I had tried to change the proxy to something else, like "auto detect", but then my download speed went down to a low percentage or even 0, making me think that I couldn't download at all. So, I had to change the proxy to use the one my Internet Service Provider was giving me. It worked great.

In Psiphon 3 when you first access it you have the option for auto proxy. If you change that setting you should then be able to use your proxies.

To see how to set these up check our support forums for your operating system at. You can also download and use the Psiphon v4 client for your browser, which lets you choose your proxy settings.

What is the proxy setting for Psiphon?

If it is a proxy, can you tell me what kind of proxy?

Thanks for help. I assume you're running Psiphon on Windows, but I'm going to take a shot at this because I have the same experience on Linux. Psiphon works by creating an encrypted tunnel between your computer and Psiphon's servers. The encryption happens through HTTPS, which means your internet connection is being tunneled to Psiphon's servers in plain text. To access Psiphon, you need to point your browser to fill in a few fields, then follow the instructions on the screen.

The username and password that you use to access Psiphon are the same as the ones you use to log into the VPN service from your computer. Your internet connection will be secure during the connection, but the data in the tunnel is not. In order to be secure, Psiphon requires you to connect to the server via a secure VPN connection.

Some VPNs like ExpressVPN give you this option to enable "secure VPN", which is required by Psiphon. The following is a list of options you may see when connecting to Psiphon via a secure VPN. This means that the connection between your computer and the server is encrypted. Psiphon does not provide any form of parental controls. If you're worried about your kids seeing something you don't want them to see, you'll have to find other ways to limit their online access.
