Why is Netflix telling me my device isn't part of the household?
I've installed a lot of new apps on my Galaxy S7 Edge, and I always keep an eye on the apps I'm about to delete.
Not this one.
I recently updated to Netflix and I still can't figure out why Netflix says that my device is not part of the household. I have the latest version of Netflix on my phone (2.5.0), and I'm using the newest Android operating system, which is based on Google's own OS, Android 7.1. I have also tried to add my Galaxy S7 Edge to my family plan on the app, but it still doesn't work. I really don't know what to do at this point. Any suggestions?
Answer. The Netflix app does not support devices that are not part of the family plan. This means that even if your Netflix account is part of the family plan, the Netflix app will still not be able to work with it if you're not the primary member of the household.
This is why when you log in to the Netflix app for the first time on your new Galaxy S7 Edge, you'll see the message "Sorry, your device is not part of our family plan." You can fix this by signing in with your existing Netflix account instead of the new one on your new Galaxy S7 Edge. To do this, go to Settings > About Tablet > Existing Account > Switch to Your Existing Account, and then click Sign In.
You should be able to sign in to your Netflix app now on your new Galaxy S7 Edge. Note: If you've already used your Netflix account on your other device(s) before and you still don't see the correct option in Settings > About Tablet > Existing Account, then this is likely because your primary Netflix account has a different user id (UID) or password from the other devices. If this is the case, you will need to sign in with your old account on the other devices and add them to your Netflix family plan as well. If you continue to have problems with this, please let us know so that we can look into the issue further. I have Netflix and I downloaded the app onto my phone, but after doing so I don't have access to the library or anything. What happened? Can I re-download it or fix it? I'm having this issue too.
Can I use Netflix in two different houses?
When we got Netflix, I was really hoping they would have this "wink wink" agreement with me.
That I would be able to have two different Netflix accounts that I could use in my two houses. This way, when I'm at home and hooked up to our TV (by way of VPN) my account shows up on my TV (just as a Netflix app on Android) but if I want to stream on my Mac and iPad when I'm away from home, I can just get the account on another house (without a cable subscription). The reason that this would be awesome is because once we got broadband, I'd no longer be able to afford paying for cable tv.
They don't do this by a software update or something? This way, when I'm at home and hooked up to our TV (by way of VPN) my account shows up on my TV (just as a Netflix app on Android) but if I want to stream on my Mac and iPad when I'm away from home, I can just get the account on another house (without a cable subscription). I do believe there is a software update that allows you to do it. It's more a convenience thing so you can watch whatever your account has recorded to your devices. So you go to your other home and start watching from one of your accounts. I can't say that they support that feature. I think they allow you to create other profiles and connect but are not certain on it. The main purpose is so you don't want to watch anything and it would be nice and convenient to have it.
They still require a separate subscription for streaming on devices like your XBox 360, Wii, TiVo's etc. So it's not a true replacement for cable tv.
