Where is Asgard located on Earth?

Is it possible that Norse mythology is real?

Some years ago, a friend of mine, Peter, sent me a copy of The Gods of Asgard by W.

D. Whitney, a history of Norse mythology. At the time, I was already researching Norse mythology and so didn't think it was relevant to my current work. But now, as I try to put together my first novel, I've found it very helpful. It was only recently that I realized how thoroughly I needed to familiarize myself with this mythology, which isn't that long or complicated, but has a lot of details that are critical to any fantasy story.

As I read, I came across an interesting quote from the book that really intrigued me. I'll share it with you and then offer my own thoughts on it, so you can see if you agree. It's from page 27 of the book:

The most beautiful woman in the world, Hel, wife of the god Tyr, was the daughter of Loki, the son of the giantess Angrboeris. Let's look at the facts, shall we? The most beautiful woman in the world is the epitome of good looks. As the author goes on to say, she was as fair as she was beautiful. That is, she was beautiful as well as fair. There are no ugly fair women. It's a fact about the natural world.

Hel, wife of the god Tyr is another matter. God is another fact, and Tyr is another. There's no reason to think that one fact is more important than the other. They're all facts.

In this case, they're facts that are being used to make a point. They aren't facts of a story.

I was struck by the use of as before the name Hel. I think it's supposed to be a reminder that, when referring to characters, it's important to be consistent. If you say Hel was a daughter of Loki, it should mean that her father was Loki.e. If you say she was a wife of Tyr, then it should mean she was married to him.

Do the 9 realms exist?

Or is that just you?

The person then goes on about an entire realm of beings and I get distracted from the question. To make matters worse, the person then says But I was told you said, in so many words, that we are actually living in one right now and in another.

I say back, Yeah. But there are also other realms, so it is possible that is happening now. And the person says OK fine, and goes on about how the 9 realms exist and how I didn't even believe in it at one point. As if I was the only person on Earth who wasn't willing to embrace such an outlandish theory? Like I need to defend my beliefs. My own personal beliefs were enough. If it was true, I was going to find out sooner or later, no big deal.

I ask if they have ever read the 9 realms book. They never did because they didn't want to look stupid, etc. The author wrote something about being asked about something he called the 12 Realms. He said that it was a name that he put on the subject in order to stop the confusion from happening. It seems to me like he wanted to keep everyone confused, all together. And you can go ahead and tell me that is not so, but you are confusing many people at once by just believing that you know what you know. There's really nothing cool or new about it. We know it happens; what else is new?

I know what I experienced while I was in that realm. I was told by angel (a higher being) that the highest level that those who experience the 8th is where you begin to understand what you are asking about. I have already spoken about how you could get into that realm, but that is only true if you are completely willing. I don't think you need my help, and you will eventually see for yourself that it's true.

So, basically what I'm saying is that you might get in touch with this realm sometime, you might not, but what is the odds that you will?

Where is new Asgard in real life?

The original New Asgard was the second-floor location of a house on the corner of 20th St and Van Dyke Ave in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood. It was open from February of 2026 until November of 2026 when it closed.

Today, the new New Asgard is a three story home with multiple stories of underground parking. The new New Asgard is located at 918 N. Kenmore Ave in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. The first floor retail space is called Nordic House and was opened on April 12, 2026.

Where is Asgard located on Earth?

The location of the Norse realm of Asgard is generally in a location mentioned in both the poem Vlusp and the Prose Edda.

The two main locations mentioned are:
Frowe by the River Hvergelmir, which is often referred to as "under the bridge" in English translations of Vlusp. Hvergelmir, who was not an actual historical river that is referenced in the Poetic Edda, is instead a name for the world below or within Midgard. However, the rivers beneath Midgard named Hvergelmir ("waterfall river") are listed in Skjldunga saga, an Icelandic manuscript, and in Landnmabk, a 13th-century Norwegian manuscript.

Mka mai, the other site mentioned in both the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda. This location, described in the Prose Edda, appears to have been corrupted into "Mi-ka" when the text was transcribed from the manuscript that contains it.

Location and descriptions. In the Poetic Edda poem Vlusp, the land of Asgard is located in Midgard, between the world below and the surface of the seas. It is often referred to as "the realm of frost and shadow under heaven". Its entrance is in the southern hemisphere in Midgard between Jotunheim and Markarvirki and its exit is in the northern hemisphere, near the world below.
