Does Android USB tethering work on Mac?

Does Android USB tethering work on Mac?

The latest version of my Macbook Pro (11,1) has USB ports that aren't working properly. When a device is connected the computer is prompted to reboot and the USB port isn't detected by the OS.

However, it's still detected by the PC and I can download files from the device using iTunes or the Finder. Does anybody have a solution or information on how to solve this issue? The version of OSX that I'm running is 10.8.5 and the model is a mid-2011 13-inch MacBook Pro.

This is an old question, but I just needed to fix my same problem. I am a new Mac user (a MacBook Air). Here are the instructions that I followed: Plug the device into the computer (that you want to transfer files to/from). Go to System Preferences, then click on "Startup Disk". Click on "Create a Startup Disk". Choose a location (eg your Desktop). Double-click on "Startup Disk", then choose your device as the disk image you want to use. Click on "Start" and see if the device is detected and works correctly.

Does HoRNDIS work on Ventura?

HoRNDIS is working on it for the most part.

A driver can be built and I've tested and tried it myself. It works very well but since it uses a new standard in Vista you don't have a driver on your computer from the factory. I'm still testing it but there seems to be more driver support going on then was expected.

It would be cool if the HoRNDIS driver could be included with some of the Vista drivers. Or maybe we should make a request that it's included. We need to test this and make sure it works, it could be an alternative to the Vista driver if it does.

As others have mentioned, what is "working" doesn't necessarily mean that it will be available for Windows 7, so I don't see how that would solve any of our problems. I agree 100% with you. Why build Windows 7 drivers when the Vista drivers will work for 7? And why take away the choice from the user? I'd like to give another alternative thought about what a new Vista driver can do to us. You said:"Or maybe we should make a request that it's included."

A request or even an opinion here is NOT gonna change anything in Vista drivers. They (Microsoft) are already in progress of creating a new Vista driver. By the time they decide to do it, Vista is supposed to be out. If a request or even an opinion can get them to do something different than what they are planning on doing, I'll gladly pass on the idea.

But I also understand the point of an argument and I agree with what you're saying there. So if this new Vista driver is the way it goes (which I guess it will), then my plan is not to ask for an alternative driver but to simply build the Vista drivers to work on 7. At that point, we'll know exactly where it stands and we'll have the information we need to make a decision.

How to enable Android USB tethering on M1, M2 Macs?

There are many ways to tether Android on your Mac.

However, if you use iPhone USB cable to connect and charge your phone, there is no problem. But if you use Android USB cable, things will be different. Because the iOS device will have a charging indicator, but the Android device won't have. How to enable USB tethering? Here I give three methods to you:

Mac OS. Method 1: Edit the properties of the USB accessory. Step1: Open Finder, select Applications-> Utilities-> Disk Utility. Step2: Choose Partition Map in the left column. Finally, after that choose the format option of FAT32 (or NTFS).

Step3: In the next window, put the file system of FAT32 (or NTFS), size less than 1MB and write a password for security. Step4: After setting this, you can set the mount point to /Volumes/USB and click OK. Method 2: Add /dev/usb/by-id/ to your /etc/fstab. Add /dev/usb/by-id/ to your /etc/fstab: sudo gedit /etc/fstab. Now add the following line to the end of the file, save and close. /dev/usb/by-id/0bb0810b-7e1e-4cd8-bf8c-3aac9aadf2c8 /mnt/usb auto noatime 0. Mac OS X version 10.5 or later: Mac OS X version 10.6 or later: You can enable USB tethering on your Mac with a simple command.
