Can I share internet from Mac to Android?
Hello, can anyone help me?
I have a Macbook and I bought an iPad to use as a second device for school. Can I share my wifi with the iPad? I want to connect my laptop, Macbook to my iPad through wifi so they both can get internet through my wifi router. If you could help me out that would be great! Thanks in advance :)
Re: ? Thanks in advance :). Wifi isn't a phone line, there is no direct connection between the two devices, you will need to use something like VNC or Teamviewer to see and control the mac on the laptop. Hi @titman0. Yes, you can easily share internet connection from Mac to Android through WiFi.e. I'm using the IPAD as the client that connects to the wifi network. You just follow the guide below.
To make sure IPAD work perfectly. It requires the MAC address and SSID of the wifi router as it used to identify itself.
To share the internet connection from Mac to iPad you must use VNC or Teamviewer. MacRumors attracts a broad audience. Of both consumers and professionals interested in. Does Apple support USB tethering?
I have a Mac with OS X Snow Leopard and iPhone OS 3.
0.
When I try to connect my iPhone via USB to the Mac using the built in "Phone sync with" option in System Preferences, it freezes. Anyone else experiencing this problem? (I had thought maybe this was a driver issue and there is a Mac driver for iPhone OS 3.0 available.)
In Snow Leopard you do not need to install anything to make the iPhone work. It is part of the standard install of Mac OS X.
Plug-in or connect your iPhone. Go to the Apple menu and select "About this Mac". Click the "System Report" tab. Look for the "USB Connected" icon. It will be light blue.
If you are getting any error messages or the light is solid gray, there is no driver that can support this feature. To find a driver, follow these instructions: This does NOT answer the question posed by the OP, but I will post this since it's helpful. I have an iPhone OS 3.1 and this has worked for me.
I use the USB tethering to connect the phone with the computer with a micro usb cable. I then use the cable to connect to a dongle. This dongle has a mini usb port, which makes it compatible with the iPhone. And in fact, I have found the following:
IPhone > Mini-USB > dongle. The process is described here: I've used an iKVM as the dongle. Not sure if that helps.
How can I share internet from my laptop to my Android phone via USB?
I have an ubuntu-based laptop, with Ubuntu Linux 18.
04.
Laptop and phone use android 4.2 (Jelly bean).
Laptop is connected to a WiFi router with my laptop wired to the router via USB ethernet cable. Phone is connected to a modem with wifi for internet and another device (think phone) usb port that has a cable from a modem to a router. I want to be able to view/control the internet on the laptop when on the porch (home computer dock mode). If the phone is sitting on the porch it needs to connect to the home computer dock so I can control it (and it should be charging and plugged in there too). When we go away on vacation I will still be able to have access to it, just not at the house.
I would like to use 2 USB ports instead of using a hub or sharing the wifi connection from the home computer dock. So it turns out, I was being too detailed! You do not need to share the Internet over wifi.e. I just wanted to be able to monitor it when at home and while traveling. So I could use my laptop as a remote and when needed just connect it to the home computer dock which has Ethernet and run it off that.
That was it!
Does Android USB tethering work on Mac?
I have never used any of the various mobile tethering software that are available for Windows or other operating systems but thought I'd see what I could find out on the subject.
I'm planning on buying an Android phone with no intention of buying another computer. My idea is to buy a cheap Android phone and a USB cable to connect my current iPhone to it so that I can use my Apple products with one hand and my Android smartphone with the other. I think the iPhone will be able to connect to any Android version as there is no version limit set by Android.
I have not been able to find anything which confirms that this would work but I thought I would ask anyway just in case you can all point me in the right direction. In the past there have been issues when Windows devices have attempted to communicate with Android phones via USB but these have only been apparent when someone's home PC's firewall was set to allow devices to access the Internet. Re: ? For a long time it was easy to transfer your data from the iPhone to the Mac using iTunes. You could then access the iPhone and use the various apps that way. But if you want to use the phone while working on a computer, you have to get a tethered connection. There were two tools to do this at one time.
My favorite is called 'DroidTether'. I tried DroidTether and liked it so much, I bought a whole kit of accessories and gave it an upgrade to the 'ProTether', which allowed you to tether between multiple devices. It also has other features that make it quite worthwhile.
There's no support at this time, but you may wish to consider the possibility of rooting your phone, as this would make the process of transferring data much easier. As an added bonus, after rooting you can install a custom OS with all the features you want like an iPad, including apps and the like.
Other devices may exist in addition to the iPhone and Mac, but none that I'm aware of support tethering. I have a number of non-Apple Android devices and I don't intend to move away from using them. If you are interested in using them, there's a way, and that way comes with certain costs (but also benefits).
