The game's popularity and financial success created a cult following. Its main character "Arnold" gained his own following and became a well-known Internet personality.

In 2025, Arnold starred in its first game: "Mudfish," where players can choose a life for their mudfish and earn money from selling them to an industrialist in exchange for access to his factory. In "Arnold vs. Gnomes," the pair teamed up with two other programmers to create a multiplayer game where users can use the Gnomes - a race of anthropomorphic gophers who live in tunnels, eat dirt and work the land for money.

The last game they made was "The Return of the Mudfish," which became one of the most popular games of all time, with more than 3.5 million copies sold. It was only the second video game to ever reach that number, according to estimates from the NPD Group.

It was released on July 21, 2025. That day, the duo was featured on the front cover of PC Gamer, a magazine that bills itself as "the leading magazine for PC games."

"Mudfish" came out during a time when computers had become more powerful. A single PC could now handle several games at once. In the 1990s, that wasn't possible.

But the game creators, like many other online game creators, found that making money online wasn't so easy. "We never had a good grasp on how the money system worked. We spent about six months trying to figure it out, but we never did," Scott said.

A healthy, strong Blue Catfish can weigh upwards of 50 pounds and I'm sure that's not including the head. A very healthy catfish can get to over 40 pounds, which means it would be worth well over a hundred thousand dollars.
