Why am I getting charged for ExpressVPN?
ExpressVPN is a private VPN company.
Its aim is to offer a secure online connection for anyone and it does so by offering a number of options and services that make it possible to use a VPN service without being restricted to your home country. ExpressVPN offers unlimited data usage, it can be used on any device and it does not require a long term commitment.
How much data is used when using an ExpressVPN plan? When a customer is subscribed to a plan they are given unlimited data with the exception of the amount of data used per month (the 'data limit'). What happens if I use my data limit? If you exceed your data limit, ExpressVPN will immediately disconnect you from the network and you won't be able to reconnect to ExpressVPN. You can simply pay for additional data and you will be able to use your data as usual.
However, if you use a lot of data on the VPN network or if you are in certain countries or regions where data usage is restricted, it might be that you can't exceed the data limit even though you have used more than you were entitled to. In this case, you will still be disconnected but will be able to access the Internet normally again.
How long does a data limit last? There is no data limit once you have subscribed to a plan. It will last indefinitely.
Why am I getting charged even though I have used less than my data limit? When you subscribe to a plan, you agree to follow the terms and conditions of the VPN subscription. For example, you agree that you won't use more than a data limit and you won't use the VPN network in a way that puts you at risk. If you breach these agreements, ExpressVPN reserves the right to disconnect you from the VPN network and you will not be able to reconnect.
I am being charged for data that I have not used. What do I do? ExpressVPN sends its customers a warning when they use more than their data limit. When you receive this warning, you have the option to either continue using the VPN or stop using it. The choice is yours.
How do I check my data usage? There are a number of ways to check your data usage. Some VPN apps have a function that lets you check your data usage.
How do I dispute a charge on ExpressVPN?
If you have a subscription to ExpressVPN and would like to dispute the charge, you will need to contact our billing team and we will review your account to find out if it is eligible for dispute.
Once we are done reviewing your account, we will respond with our decision on whether or not you can dispute the charge. We will also credit your account for any money we owe you.
Do I need to be online to dispute a charge? Yes. Once we have reviewed your account, we will mail you the decision on whether or not you can dispute the charge. If we find that you are eligible to dispute the charge, we will mail you the refund. It is up to you to dispute the charge, as we are unable to do this for you.
How do I dispute a charge on ProtonVPN? If you have a subscription to ProtonVPN and would like to dispute the charge, you will need to contact our billing team and we will review your account to find out if it is eligible for dispute. What is ExpressVPN's refund policy? We will refund your payment within 5 business days of the date of the dispute if you do not dispute the charge.
How do I cancel a VPN payment?
Cancelling a payment is done via the PayPal customer portal or PayPal's Billing section.
To cancel the payment you will need to login to the customer portal and scroll to the bottom to reach the cancel payments menu. If there are multiple payments associated with your account, select delete payment for each payment. You will then see a drop-down box that has the option of Delete multiple payments. Click that option and proceed with deleting the payment as outlined below.
In order to cancel a one time payment you have made using your Paypal account, you will need to select your paypal account from the drop-down list in the PayPal interface under the cancel payments menu. Once your paypal account is selected, click on customer payment in the center of the screen. On the drop-down menu select cancel payment. Once done, press the delete icon on the far right. The next screen will allow you to confirm the payment has been canceled.
In order to cancel a subscription payment you have made using your Paypal account, you will need to select your paypal account from the drop-down list in the PayPal interface under the cancel payments menu. Once your paypal account is selected, click on subscription payment in the center of the screen. On the drop-down menu select cancel subscription payment.
In order to cancel a recurring payment you have made using your Paypal account, you will need to select your paypal account from the drop-down list in the PayPal interface under the cancel payments menu. Once your paypal account is selected, click on recurring payment in the center of the screen. On the drop-down menu select cancel recurring payment.
You can also cancel a recurring payment directly by navigating to your recurring payments record. Then in the top right hand corner click on Recurring Payments.
