Why doesn't Bark work on iPhone?

So I've been trying to use the "Talk to Bark" app on my iPhone, but it just refuses to connect.

I have had this phone for just over a year and the app itself works great on my iPad, so it's not that. I installed the app and tried again and got the error message you see in the screenshot, then tried again the following morning (after updating the app and restarting). Then a few minutes later I get another error message, this time a lot longer and more detailed. It basically says that it can't find a connection to the server or something. There is nothing on the App Store to indicate that Apple may have changed some permissions recently, unless this might have something to do with that.

Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks in advance for the help. I had the same problem and just fixed it. As long as I was connected to internet the app worked fine, but when I turn off my wi-fi the app couldn't use the internet. Thats the reason why I had to update it.

In your iPhone go to settings > mobile hotspot, turn it on and then tap on the network where it should appear as a connection named wifissi-network. If you cant see this choose Other > WIFISS (I think) > Other. I think there is an internet connection option there that has a little light next to it. Enable that, then restart.

It should work fine now. This did it for me.
