Why would someone use the Aloha app?
The Aloha app doesn't offer any new features.
All the stuff you see in iOS 12 can be seen here too, including FaceID on the iPhone X. For now it appears that there isn't anything particularly new we haven't seen before on iOS 12. This might change though, given how new the software is.
How is it better than the previous? It's basically a cleaner version of what you had before. We've got a new dock, some new UI changes, a new Control Center, and some new apps. The app switcher and Home screen have taken a slight refresh too. We have a new lock screen and more control over notifications. You'll get your notifications and alerts from everywhere across the iPhone - instead of just the lock screen. All of these are great updates to previous versions, with the exception of Lock Screen which doesn't add much more than in iOS 11.
Do I need to update to the Aloha OS? You probably don't. The app will give you a heads up if your phone needs updating but for most users, this update will probably be enough. For some reason, Apple decided to roll out two operating system updates to iPhone users in recent months. A major one in iOS 11, and a minor one in Aloha OS which is likely to just be a visual update that wasn't worth the wait. While nothing you shouldn't wait for, or anything you really need. It's not a big risk to update if you have good coverage, especially if you're using the iPhone X since the update is mostly free of bugs. If you don't update it will just continue running as a stock iOS 11 with a few small bug fixes.
Is the Aloha app free?
Are there any fees for using the service?
Aloha has no fees associated with using the app. Aloha will continue to operate free of charge and is committed to supporting its users by providing free wifi connectivity. The Aloha community continues to work tirelessly to drive the success of the service, and as we move forward, we are confident that we can continue to support and improve our app.
What is the difference between an internet and a hotspot? The difference between an internet and a hotspot is quite simple: a hotspot doesn't depend on an internet connection to function while an internet needs a separate device to access the internet through a data plan. Hotspots work off any type of technology including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB. They work so well that many hotels and cafes in other countries provide free or low cost internet access.
What about public hotspots? Public hotspots have become more and more common in the United States as more Americans choose to stay connected while on the go. There are currently over 7,500 public hotspots available, including ones inside hospitals, airports, hotels, coffee shops, and more.
How do I find public hotspots? It's pretty easy to find public hotspots as long as you have a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, and your location. You'll find the closest public hotspot by starting your search at our Public Hotspots Map.
What if I'm traveling abroad? Whether you're traveling abroad or back home, public hotspots are available in most areas to allow you to stay connected no matter where you are. It's very likely that you'll find a hotspot somewhere you're staying, whether it be a hotel or a business. If you're not sure, ask your hotel receptionist for assistance in locating a hotspot.
What if I need a wired connection to the internet? If you need a wired connection to the internet, you'll most likely find this in a business area like an office building. Although some businesses offer free wifi, chances are they won't have cable or DSL connections available in the office. If you're near a business, you may be able to access a wired connection through their network. Just be sure to look for signs of a wired connection!
