Who is the best T20 bowler in the Netherlands?

The answer: BAMBAAI!

By: Rob Visser. November 1, 2025. It is a sunny Saturday afternoon in December in the small town of Heerenveen, in the province of Friesland. To get to the game you drive 20 minutes past endless rows of sunflower fields. As a welcome sight you see the stadium in the distance, surrounded by green fields and the windmills.

A few hundred spectators have gathered at the Stadion Heerenveen. It's almost pitch black outside, so the players can barely be seen, they are silhouettes on the field. At first it looks like just another T20 game, but when the action begins the noise really picks up. The crowd responds with a loud 'wooyay' whenever a Dutch bowler releases the ball. There are cheers every time he gets a wicket.

After five minutes, the noise dies down slightly. The only sound now comes from the crowd, who are chanting the name of the bowling squad: 'BAMBAAI!' When this article was first published, it was named 'Dutch bowlers'. However, it was pointed out to me that the two players who have impressed me most during this tournament are both American. I decided to change the name to 'US bowlers', to reflect these two players who have contributed more to the US game than the Dutch.

I am visiting Heerenveen for a couple of days, taking in the best bowler competition in the Netherlands. Last year the tournament was held in Den Haag. Despite the size of the field, it was packed and was almost impossible to watch the bowlers for the vast majority of the tournament.

This year the tournament will take place in Heerenveen. It is an area far away from the Netherlands' major cities. The ground is close to the German border, and the surrounding areas are occupied by Friesland's famous windmills.

The Dutch national team regularly plays in nearby Utrecht, but there is no major reason why the home of the game should be this far away from the rest of the country. The day I arrive, the weather in the small town of Heerenveen is still pleasant, but it's getting dark.

Is the Netherlands cricket tour to South Africa 2024?

Cricket is back, and as it was at its core.

the world. The question for many is - and rightly - 'When will they be playing some cricket in the Netherlands?' To answer this question, I would have to start with the history of cricket in the Netherlands. But before I do that, I'd like to make clear two things. One, cricket is played throughout the Netherlands. There is no city or region where cricket is not played to some extent. And two, you can play cricket at any time, and in any type of game: Twenty-20, 50 over, T20, or limited-overs of any kind. So that's a cricket-y answer, but it's not the only answer. If you live or work near the main motorways in the Netherlands, you may notice an increase in traffic because people are coming to visit and playing cricket. And that's what that article was about. The story about the Netherlands cricket tour to South Africa 2025. This month, the International Cricket Council announced a test tour to South Africa. The dates of the test tour have not yet been decided, but given that the first phase of the World Test Championship kicks off next summer in Australia, one thing seems pretty sure. It will take place sometime around October, and the hosts will be South Africa. Which means, of course, that in order to prepare our teams for the test match, we need a home ground. This ground must meet standards set by the ICC. In order to apply for such standards, the cricket board has to go through an extensive process of inspection. The inspection and selection of a ground for such tests depends on, amongst other things, 'What will happen to this ground after the test matches in 2024? Will it still be used for cricket? Or does the new owner of this ground choose to use it for different purposes?' You'll have to wait for the inspection to have its result, so for now, I have to resort to guesswork. Based on the recent developments in the Netherlands, the inspection seems to look very thoroughly into the viability and quality of the chosen ground for 2025. I don't think it's too crazy to suspect that the ICC inspected the Eredivisie (Dutch league) in an attempt to find a test cricketing ground suitable for a World Cup-quality venue.
