Is Kelly education in Georgia?
It has been three days since I have written anything and am still exhausted from the eventful night.
I need a few days to really catch up on all that has happened in the last two days and it is impossible to keep track.
It began last Tuesday, my last class of the fall quarter at Georgia Southern was completed. It was our last lecture before winter break started and one final exam had to be finished before the semester ended. On Wednesday, my advisor called me at home to give me the good news. That is when things started to happen rapidly. All classes for Wednesday were cancelled. The reason given to my professor was a bomb threat but it was not verified by the administration. So we waited and they made the announcement. By 10:30am, we heard that were no longer taking any classes for the day.
This was our last day on campus for six weeks so it was time for all of us to relax. We had a small reception for a few colleagues. We all sat down and enjoyed each other's company. That afternoon, we started going through our materials one last time. I knew my thesis committee was anxious for me to present some of my research. I planned on finishing the last class I had in December around the same time and then flying to St. Louis for my Ph. Presentation. All went well until Friday, Dec 2nd. At 6:00pm I got a call from Georgia Southern's Department of Public Safety asking me to come down to their headquarters in the Administration Building. My advisor told me I might be asked to be escorted down to security. I asked him if he knew what was happening and he said he didn't but that I would know as soon as I got to security.
Once I reached the second floor of the Department of Public Safety office, I was met by an officer and told that someone was going to escort me to Security. This was a first for me because I never heard of anyone being escorted to security but when you are in college with no criminal record, nothing is very uncommon. We were driven down to the parking lot near Security, about a quarter of a mile away. There, we were met by another guard and told to wait. Someone would be coming out in a little while and were to wait inside the passenger's section of a vehicle until this person came out.
Who is the CEO of Kelly Education?
And what does he do?
A friend of mine recently started his career in IT, but has a very strong desire to change to an entrepreneurial lifestyle and earn a living from his skill set. He has a solid background in IT, having studied at university. He has worked in a large public sector company for over 8 years. In that time, he worked on a variety of projects, including a large scale upgrade of a system used by one of the major airline's websites.
After working on that project, he decided to work with a start-up company, and was fortunate to be hired. He managed to get himself some skills that he had never used before, and then eventually was given a chance to run his own team. He has now managed to grow that team to a size where he is the most senior person in the team.
I asked my friend what his biggest goal was for the next few years, and his answer was quite simple: I want to leave my job. I want to find something that I love, and make money doing it.
This ambition is not so different to many others who start a new career, as they begin to develop their skillset to the next level. For my friend, he is now looking at the same type of opportunities as those other individuals. He is also thinking about the next stage of his career, and trying to figure out how he can make money from his skillset.
He has talked about this topic to a few people, and been given differing advice. Some friends have told him that he should try to look at a local start-up that is looking for someone with his skillset. They have also advised him that it is important to look for a job that will make money, and that he can then take the experience he gains in this job to other jobs that will pay him more.
His other friends have told him to consider the start-up culture, which he is interested in, but which may not pay as well as he hopes. He is also looking for a job that may not require much travel, which he does not like to do. Another friend has suggested that he work in a bigger firm, and that this would offer him the flexibility he wants to have.

Where are Kelly Services located in the EU? The number of workers on temporary contracts in the European Union increased to 10.8 million in 2025 from 10.7 million in 2025. Total temporary workers reached an estimated 12.6 million, according to the International Labour Organization's report on statistics.
In terms of employment per 10,000 population, Germany, Sweden, Lithuania, Slovenia and Spain had the highest temporary employment rates, while countries such as Ireland, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Denmark and Finland had the lowest. The UK was the only country where the number of temporary employees declined in 2025.
Total working days lost due to temporary work decreased by 0.9 billion globally between 2025 and 2025. Although this was the first year of decline, the International Labour Organization predicted that it would continue until 2025. This is because companies are replacing permanent positions with temporary work, but many employers who do not employ temporary workers lose money due to the higher cost of hiring.
The ILO said in its report that temporary employment accounted for 9% of the total employment in Europe. In the UK, it reached a record high of over 2.3 million, making it the third largest employer in the UK. According to the report, the proportion of temporary jobs in the EU grew to 14% by 2025, up from 13% in 2025. However, only Ireland, Malta and Poland had a lower proportion of temporary employees than in 2025.
The EU Temporary Workers Survey (EU TWS), published in April 2025, reported the following figures: Germany and Sweden had the largest number of temporary workers at 31% and 30% respectively. Employment on a temporary basis grew the fastest in Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. Poland had the highest employment rate on a temporary basis at 56%, followed by Finland at 52%.
