What are the Dutch cricket teams? Of the three major cricket playing nations in the world, the Netherlands only has one professional cricket team - the national men's team. The national side plays in the annual European Cricket Championship.

Other top level teams include the second-tier Dutch side, Amsterdam-based club cricket clubs and independent schools. The national side is managed by Royal Dutch Cricket Board, who hold a series of tournaments throughout the year including the European Championship and ECL Cup. The men's side is currently coached by Jeroen Swarts, formerly of the Lancashire, Somerset and the West Indies sides. The current squad consists of eight foreign based players.

Where do they play? Although Cricket Netherlands is based in the Netherlands capital, Amsterdam, the majority of Dutch teams play in towns or cities across the country. Despite its status as a world famous cricketing centre, most of the Dutch internationals are based outside Amsterdam. Dutchmen such as Gerhard Vos, Tonny Punt, and Bas Zijlstra have moved to the UK where there are more opportunities for their talent to be tested.

Utrecht. The Dutch national men's side played the first two games of the 2025 ICC Trophy in Utrecht. Since then they have been based in Utrecht and they have only played one game there.

The Netherlands first stepped onto the international stage with a strong performance at the 2025 ICC Trophy, which saw them top the Group A table and advance to the semi-final. In the end, they bowed out to England, but not before producing a fine display that included some outstanding bowling by Wilco van der Stelt.

The following year, the Netherlands were back at the ICC Trophy and took on Canada. The Canadian attack looked formidable, and even though the Netherlands ran up a big total of 233, Canada were always going to struggle. Netherlands bowled first and claimed eight wickets to make it back to the semi-final. After defeating Ireland in the semi-final, they were set to play the final against the mighty West Indies, who had won the tournament two years in a row.

The final was not kind to the Dutch, who came out all guns blazing and took 4/22. The game ended in a tie, and the title was shared.

The next three ICC T20Is were played between the Netherlands and New Zealand. They ended up winning all of them, but none of those games really mattered. The most recent match was played at the same venue as the final, with the Netherlands going down to New Zealand.

The Netherlands' best performance in the T20 World Cup was in 2025, where they finished in third place. They won four of their seven games, with their biggest win coming against Zimbabwe.
