However, after weeks of trying to work out what was causing the problem, Netflix have finally responded to customer enquiries by stating that they are only allowing VPN users in the US access to the content on Netflix.

This could because the VPNs listed above are also not listed on Netflix's FAQ page, which suggests that the company is purposely trying to hide the fact that they are blocking these services from the UK.

Why is ExpressVPN not working?

ExpressVPN is one of the best VPN services out there and it's been a part of the CyberGhost family since 2023, so we've got plenty of experience with it. Unfortunately, we do also have some experience with other VPN services, too, so we know that the issues you're having aren't unique to ExpressVPN. In fact, we've seen a lot of them lately.

We tried using ExpressVPN on our laptop and the iPhone, and both times we found a lot of problems that made us look at other VPN services. We'll start with what we think are the common problems and see if any of those apply to your own experience. If not, we'll look into some specific issues.

Common ExpressVPN problems. Sometimes the connection will not connect. ExpressVPN has never been great when it comes to reliability. Sometimes when you try to connect, you'll get an error message that says something like The server is currently unavailable.

What you need to do in this case is open up a web browser and look for the IP address of the server you're trying to connect to. This should be the same number that ExpressVPN provides you when you try to connect to the VPN.

Once you find the server IP address, you'll need to type it into the URL bar of your browser and hit Enter. This will load a page that's hosted by the VPN server, which should allow you to log in and have your connection.

Unfortunately, you'll have to make this resolution each time you want to connect to ExpressVPN because it's not a good idea to rely on it. If you do make this change, make sure you do it for each device you use.

You'll also need to make this change if you move from one device to another, even though this isn't usually necessary. This means you'll have to do it every time you switch to a new computer, or a different router, and it will be a nuisance.

It can take hours for your connection to actually connect. The second problem we encountered was that connecting to ExpressVPN was slow. We're talking about hours to connect, sometimes. We tried this several times, in different countries and with different devices.

Does ExpressVPN still work with Netflix?

ExpressVPN claims its new version 7.0 does. But the company told us it needed to add more safeguards, and that this update will be rolling out this weekend. Which means it might not work. Or it could be a great update. We'll update this post as soon as we know for sure.
