How do I run Task Manager?
The following steps will guide you through the process of launching and using Task Manager.
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Run. In the Open box, navigate to the following folder: %windir%system32Tasks. Select the .exe file called Task Manager.
In the lower-right corner of the window, click OK. The new Task Manager should appear. In the upper-left corner, click Processes and open a window showing the Task Manager process list.
If the Task Manager shows up as a black window, click File. Under the General tab, click Options. On the Advanced tab, click Show Processes from all users. Click OK. Now that you are able to see the Task Manager under every account, click the small arrow in the lower-right corner to close the dialog.
Double-click the application that is taking up memory. In the resulting window, look at the current Memory Usage graph in the lower-left corner. Also notice the status of the CPU. If you see the CPU spike, the application is probably consuming a large amount of system resources.
Double-click the CPU graph to display the CPU usage graph for the selected application. Click the small arrow in the lower-right corner to close the CPU graph. Click the small arrow next to the Memory Usage graph and select the Refresh graph to update the graph. If needed, use the scroll bar to zoom in or out on the Memory Usage graph. If your computer overheats, you may want to reboot the machine. This will kill many of the running processes and give you some free CPU cycles for the next reboot. However, some areas of Windows have been revamped to add features and functionality to improve the user experience. If you have performed a clean install or if you have upgraded to Windows 10 from an older version of Windows, a few items may require a bit more of your time. Some may have changed slightly from the previous version.
Choose between the Recovery Environment and the Install Environment by clicking the Startup Settings link (see Figure 8-19).
How to open Task Manager when frozen?

Any suggestions? That's what I was taught on my Windows 8 PC. Ctrl-Alt-Del is not available for those who use Win8/10. However you can try the following trick: Open up a command prompt. Type in: tasklist. You'll see a list of all running processes with their PID numbers. If you have a PID number like 1001 (for example), type the following in the command prompt: taskkill /p 1001. This will kill that specific process that you're looking for. If it doesn't work, try the following (without the quotes): taskkill /f /pid "1001". Just right click on task bar and click on "Task Manager" if the task manager is not visible then click on start button and then type task manager into search bar and it will open task manager in no time.
