What is the name of the French series on Netflix?

I'm sure it isn't "The Witcher"

I was reading over a friend's comments about the show being pretty accurate.

I did notice some things that bothered me, but I'm not really sure what to call this "accuracy". Can someone explain in detail what these things are, and why they bother you?

1) The "Wild Hunt". "It's been a day since Geralt set out for the hunt. He made his way south of the Carpathian mountains to the small village of Sodden. Upon arriving, he learned from a local hunter about the existence of a creature that calls itself the "Wild Hunt", a beast who hunts humans and devours them. While it's not much of a threat to Geralt or other common folk, as they don't look like a human, the hunt may still be a danger to anyone foolish enough to get caught by it."

This is obviously just one aspect of a larger part of the world. Does it need to be accurate? I could see how it might be confusing for someone unfamiliar with the books.

2) That it shows that The White Wolf is actually Geralt's Father and the Queen is his Mother. (in the books, his father died and his mother was a common peasant woman) While I realize that this might make the character a bit more open to interpretation, I can't help but feel that the show takes it too far. This shows just how much of a difference between these two characters in the show and the books. I suppose the real question is, should the writers change the character so much that their own interpretation changes the entire series?

3) How the Queen is also a commoner in the show. I find it interesting that she's not nobility or royalty.

4) The main character is a human in the show. This really seems to be the heart of the controversy. It would seem to me that the fact that the Witcher is not a human would make him very different from most humans. I think this also leads to a feeling that the show is not "true" to the books because the character is so different from what we're used to.

5) That some of the humans in the show aren't humans.

The New York Times' chief TV critic, Alessandra Stanley, was one of the first critics to share her recommendations, which she wrote in a blog post. She made the case for the new Netflix series that everyone has been talking about.

" 'Stranger Things' does the impossible: it makes time feel normal again," she wrote. "The eight-episode adventure, which premiered in July, is set in the 1980s but, thanks to the magic of Netflix, feels like something that happens to us right now."

Stanley also liked the new season of the critically acclaimed series "Black Mirror," which returns with four new episodes on Dec. 29.

Other top picks from The Times included "You," a new rom-com that stars Adam Driver and "The Standups," a new show from Jim Carrey and Jeff Ross, which will launch on Jan. 12.

The Hollywood Reporter's TV critic, Jeffrey Tambor, also had his pick of the must-watch series. He named "The Keepers," a new true crime series from HBO about a murder in 1969 that remains unsolved to this day.

"If you're looking for a great show about a killer who still has not been caught, look no further," he wrote. Tambor added: "When I got my hands on the first episode, I knew I was in for a treat. We've never seen anything quite like this on TV before."

In addition to recommending "The Keepers," he named the new "Better Call Saul" as well as "Unbelievable" and "The Americans." Hollywood.com's TV critic, Ken Tucker, pointed to the new "Barry" as his favorite pick. "It's not quite a reboot of 'The Office,' but I can't think of any more fitting word to describe 'Barry' than reboot," he wrote.

Fortunately, there are tons of foreign series available to stream on Netflix. Here's a list of some top picks that range from the cutely named Kim's Convenience (which is surprisingly good) to the more serious and thought-provoking The Handmaid's Tale. But first, some history.

It's true: Netflix's international reach has exploded in the past few years. It is now available in more than 50 countries, including those of us in Canada. With a worldwide subscriber base of 75 million, and close to 40 million in the US alone, that adds up to pretty good potential viewership. That's a pretty big numberabout 15% of Netflix's total domestic user base. But it also means that Netflix's catalogue of popular series is pretty big and pretty deep. And that leads to a tricky dilemma: Which shows would Netflix be wise to stream? Well, luckily, some fans have already tackled the problem.
