I've had a lot of people ask me how I can prevent an app from being installed, and I've always told them that it's impossible. However, I don't actually know if this is true.
Today I'm going to walk you through how you can permanently block an app from ever being installed on your Android device. Disclaimer: I'm not a security expert. I'm just a regular guy who enjoys Android and antivirus. I do not advise you to follow any of these steps. In fact, I'd like to caution you not to follow any of these steps. If you've been advised to do so by someone else, please trust that person's judgement.
This is not meant to be a full guide on how to lock down your device, but more a guide to give you an idea as to how you can block an app from being installed. This is not antivirus tutorial. It is not a tutorial on how to change your lock screen.

I'm having trouble forcing apps onto parts of my mobile home screen. The problem is that games that take a long time to load don't obey the force-to-block app setting. Clicking on the X icon then feels like it's cutting off the game in progress and it's very hard to tell where I'm at. I can't blindly guess since I'm unlikely to know what level I'm at in a game.
I've tried activating the Force to block feature as well, to no avail (it doesn't appear as an option in the initial setup in Settings). I've rooted the phone and disabled the corresponding permissions. I'm using a custom ROM, if that can affect things. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? FYI I'm currently on: Unlocked/rooted, Gingerbread 2.3.5, not on a Sprint contract.
I'm paying full retail price for the phone. I'm a 29yo lefty, I've never had much financial trouble daring to play the ponies. I play RTS games when I can, some board games. I like Tetris. I have music on my phone, but not much, also just the few I mentioned above.
I'm not necessarily looking to have the app force-blocked, if such a thing can even exist in my general setup in Settings. In fact I'm hoping to no longer have to worry about it at all. The games usually have a Force to block option in their interactive parts (when they're in a playable state), and I'd like to remove the worry of it being missed.
Reade(87). OK, a couple things:1. How do you know you are in a game and not just playing Swype, etc? It may not be a limitation of the app. It may not recognize gameplay and so doesn't recognize you're "in" a game and just shows the status bar.
What I generally do is run an apps wonderful apps app that has the app tester feature, you can set what happens when an app is open, and it will test to make sure all the functions work. They have a list of all the apps and what they do. Go to the Play Store and find it and download it, I generally leave it running throughout the day.

Is this possible? There's no way to block apps from being downloaded for external media. Android apps are many things, especially on Android 3.x and 4.x and up. You used to be able to open an activity that could promote other apps if the user so selected. But with the new version of Android, that's just not possible.
Android devices treats each app differently and they don't all do it the same way. You can't block apps from being downloaded because of that.
In this case, you must allow the users to install Candy Crush Saga or other games that you want your app to be installed by. Some people think that maybe the users aren't too happy about that, but you have got to part with the learning process.
As mentioned by GliderBoy and gimmeabreakfast, this is a solution in iOS and on Macs. IPhone. To keep this short, I think that the only way to stop the external app binaries would therefore be to disable the file based installation of your apps on the phone. ITunes. Go to your AppleID and open 'Your Apps'. Find the app you want to block from being downloaded by documents section. Right click on it and choose to make it a free app.
Download it. Open it and listen to what they want. That's the only block I'm aware of to keep Candy Crush Saga from being blocked.
ITunes on Macs. There are many other ways on iTunes. I'm sure someone will take the time to write a tutorial, but I wasn't the one to find them. But you get the point right?
