Why does the Wi-Fi icon not show when connected to my wireless network?
The icon just says "no wireless connection" even though I am connected to the network. I have the latest firmware installed (v3.0.1)
The Wi-Fi icon appears to work, as it shows in the notification bar. The Wi-Fi icon is always greyed out even when I am connected to my wireless network. I have been having the same problem all week, even with my neighbor's Wi-Fi router at 100 feet away.
I have it on the highest setting in his system. I also can't get a signal from my router even though my iPad2 detects it just fine. This is not what I expected and I have not been able to find any other person experiencing this issue. It's driving me nuts!
Is there a software update? Does your phone or computer automatically reconnect if no internet connection is available? If you're on an iPhone, try toggling off and on the Airport/Bluetooth switch on the bottom right corner of your iPad's front screen. I too am in this same boat. I have no service from my neighbors' new wifi router. I have turned off airport and everything else, yet still have no service. Anecdotally, it seems like when I get an IP address from a wireless device, it goes away after about 30 seconds (and doesn't show up for 5 minutes afterwards). In the meantime, the wi-fi router works like a charm.
In this scenario, I would recommend turning off your router or wifi card and then seeing if you can connect to it. Do you have any of the standard network settings set to automatic on your router or modem? In my experience, turning on the router automatic mode forces it to give it to everyone. I have to leave it to manual or it wont work. I don't know if this applies to all routers, but mine is set to "WPA" mode only and I have the password set to the strongest so the people closest to me will be able to connect.
Another thing that has happened before for me was I found something lying around, such as a small stone, wedged into the antenna feed hole (if my router has one). I took a small screwdriver and removed it and the problem was instantly gone. I've since put the screw back in and have had no problems since.
For those with Apple devices, have you made sure the bluetooth is not on? (On the iphone you hit the lock/unlock key by pressing the button, then slide it to bluetooth to off) Is there a known bug with the ipad? It's really strange. If the wifi router is set to automatic I would recommend changing it to manual mode.

I have an iPad Air 2.
It was working fine until one day I had to charge it. Now, when I plug it into the charger, I cannot connect to the Wi-Fi.e. It is showing the iOS symbol and the Wi-Fi icon, but it does not connect. I have tried resetting the network settings and the network name. The Wi-Fi settings on the iPad are still set to "On". Answer:Wi-Fi not showing on iPad Air 2. Hi There. You need to enter the passcode to use the Wi-Fi and as you have not entered the code you cannot connect to the Wi-Fi.e. If you have no other device connected and the iPad is showing Wi-Fi then you can use the iOS command line tools to connect using the "air-tool" command line tool. To use the air-tool:- Hold down the sleep/wake button and press and hold the power button until the power off slider appears. Press the home button twice to go into safe mode. Now open the terminal app. Type "sudo /bin/sh air-tool" and press return. Enter the passcode for the network. Click connect. You can now use the Wi-Fi to connect. As you don't have a mac you can use the following to find the ip address of the Wi-Fi.e. Type "ifconfig" and press return. You will see the IP address for the Wi-Fi.e. If you have a Mac you can use the following to connect using the ethernet connection. To connect the iPad to the Mac:- Open the terminal app and type "ifconfig". Look for the IP address and save it in a text document. Connect the iPad to the Mac using the Ethernet cable. Open a browser on the Mac and enter the IP address in the URL box.
