Can I just buy Norton instead of renewing?

I have Norton Antivirus installed on my system and I want to know if I can just purchase a new copy of the software instead of renewing my current license. When I call they say I can renew but they don't seem to understand what I'm asking.

I am sure it's just a case of them not accepting my account.I just didn't know if there was another way around it? I just wanted to get the software before it expires on the 7th so I can get ready for our spring break in May and June.
