Which VPN is best for static IP?
I just setup a vps server and I am using a simple network.
My router connects to the server via a LAN port and then it connects to the internet via a modem. My only concern is if I use the VPN service is my router going to see all connections to the internet as from my own IP address? I am only connected to the modem so my router should not have any way to see my traffic.
I don't think that should be an issue if your IP address is hidden with the VPN. But since you are on a VPN, you are going to have to be very careful if you are not on the right subnet. It sounds like you are pretty far away from your router. If you are on the correct subnet, it shouldn't be a problem.
My apologies but my question was a little confusing I will try to restate my question. I understand that my router is not going to see my traffic directly from my computer but does my router know what type of traffic it has on the local lan or not? If I am not on the right subnet and my vpn is active can my router or my ISP see my traffic? Ok so I am using the vpn service that comes with my router. Do I need to setup a forwarding port on the router to allow my computer to connect to the internet if I am not on the correct subnet? Is this even possible? In case this is too confusing here are some images. The top shows my local network. There is only one router and that is 192.168.
Is ExpressVPN dedicated IP?
A dedicated IP addresses are for a server that only connects to that one specific IP.
This is great if you want to keep your privacy online, but this also means that it's not much good for you. Let's say you need your own VPN server so that your friends and family can't spy on your web browsing or whatever. However, this only stops the server from accessing the internet, so all your data will still be there. This wouldn't be much good for your privacy at all.
Let's say you want an entire separate network to communicate with others. For example, you want to have a dedicated network for your friends to download from without having to worry about other peoples' internet traffic. You can use any of the providers' plans, except a dedicated IP as you won't be able to access other peoples' websites through it.
ExpressVPN offers dedicated IP addresses for people who want to do more than just create a network for their own devices. Using a dedicated IP address you will be able to securely access other peoples' network resources from anywhere in the world and not have them see what you're doing online.
If you have a large family or friends, you will probably want to use more than one dedicated IP address for your server and make sure they can access each other's IP addresses.
