It sounds like you bought an online gift card rather than giving a physical card to your friend. You need to go to your Amazon account and then look at the transaction history to see if the amount that was refunded shows up in the details of the transaction. If it is there, then you can view the details by clicking the link to the "View Details" button, which is usually the last link at the bottom of the main page.

You can't track a physical Amazon gift card. You'll have to send them a refund and that will take days.
